I have a few Eagles graded by Eagle Numismatic Grading . Has anyone heard of this company? *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

They are/were just another of the many "basement slabbers". They buy empty slabs, print a label, and add coin. Without much better pics of the ASE, I would hesitate to say that their grade of MS-70 is accurate.

Disregard the slab completely. I would break it out.

This holder looks like it could be from the same folks, the holder and rear label are very similar.

There were a plethora of grading companies that came into existence in the late 90's around the time of ebay's explosion in popularity. Likewise the demise of many was when ebay would no longer allow a grade of a coin that was not a recognized grading service. I have seen this service at coin shows in the past but have no further info as I do not own any of their graded material.

Thanks guys . I have three in total from them all eagles . 1997 p pf70 , 1988 ms 70 and 1992 ms 70. Looking at them of course I can't tell the difference between ms68 ms 70 etc .The pr 70 of legit would be worth $$. Wondering if I should send to pcgs for grading .

I have never heard of either of these, but the slab looks to be the same. I would be snapping that thing out of it.

Easy to buy but tough to sell in a slab like this.

I'd save your money, unless you had some free submissions you needed to use up and had no other more deserving coins to send to them. Let's put it this way: if the owner of the basement slabber legitimately thought a coin would grade MS70 at a proper TPG, they wouldn't have put it in their own " TPG" MS70 slab - they'd have sent it off to the legitimate TPG themselves, to make some real money out of it. In other words, they did not believe in their own grading standard. I strongly suspect that for at least some of the basement slabbers, the coins that ended up in the basement slabs were coins that had already been submitted and rejected by the TPGs. All coins in basement slabs would grade lower than the stated grade, if sent to a TPG. They may even be "problem coins" and not receive a grade at all. They could even be fakes. Your chances of any of your coins actually being MS70 or PR70 are about the same as the chances that an 1804 US silver dollar someone bought at the local flea market for $2 is actually a genuine 1804 dollar.

Please explain why you think that this 1997-P is worth big bucks.

westy00, I have never heard of ENG or OBCS. I do not think any of the coins are 70's. If you feel the need to grade them with a ligament TPG the less expensive one is ANACS. John1
( I'm no pro, it's just my humble opinion ) Searched 6.5 +/- Million Cents Since 1971

Conditional rarities ONLY have value when the grade/TPGS are the same. For example there are conditional rarities in PCGS and other in NGC. What that means is that a limited number of coins reach a vaulted grade. What you have here are basically bullion coins. No one will pay anything extra for the TPG as 1) the TPG isn't well known, 2) This TPG is not accepted in the registry set and 3) Based on the quick look at the coins these are not 70's. If you put these for sale, you will be get bullion value, no extra premium for the TPG. And while Anacs is a trusted TPG, it isn't accepted into the Registry Set so there is minimal premium for a conditional rairity in an Anacs slab.

I hope you're looking at the PR price guides and not MS. There isn't that big of a jump from 69 to 70 in PR compared with MS. Even in 70 recent sales are in the $250-350 range and you're a lot more likely to get 69. Then it's costing you $40 to grade an $80 coin.
