Machine20 and Jbuck .thanks for the reply.
The interesting story of this coin, the man who found this
coin was my next door neighbor, in Michigan, when I was young. He must
have pulled it from circulation in the late 70's or early 80's.
He had a small box of typical coins some people pull out and saved.
Coins like wheat cents,
SBA's and half dollars. In the 90's
he retired and moved to Florida. In 2004 I move to Florida
and found out he lived a few miles from my home there.
When he passed away, I helped his daughter clean out his house.
she took that box of coins to her home in Maryland. Recently
She called me, she was looking through that box of coins and
thought this one looked different. She called me, we talk about it
and she sent it to me.
Neither the father or daughter collect coins.
Several local coin dealers and the XRF machine believe
this is a wrong planchet 1977D
Kennedy half dollar.
Tomorrow I will take the coin to the dealer that will either
send it to NGC or take it next weekend to central states
coins show and drop it off there.
