Found this one in a dealer's error box today. It's considered by the rotated die census to be the most rare of the Lincoln cents listed at R7 (4-12 known). Of course that is debatable as I have what is likely the only known example of a 1943 rotated die coin (130 degrees) so that would be an R8 if it was listed on there.

Even in this condition the coin cost me $50, which is maybe the most I've ever paid for a VG-Details coin. But figured I'd be pretty unlikely to run across another one for sale.

Very cool. I'd have snapped it up if I'd come across it.

That's a great error. Hard to pay so much for condition, but if you are collection rotated dies you have to have it.

Thanks! Not really sure if I'm collecting rotated dies or not at this point. I've got five of them, but so many are from just a couple of years and I've never seen any of them in person or for sale. Not sure how one would collect something that is almost never available and brutally hard to find in the wild.

That's why you need to collect them. That's where the value comes into play.I have looked through a few cents in my day and have found less than 10 rotated dies and no major ones.
