I know this has been a dormant topic for 2+ years, but I have come across this exact coin in a bulk lot of coins I have been going through as of late.

Reference topic: http://goccf.com/t/368847

I have searched these forums and have 60% concluded that it could be real. I will need to go to someone to officiate its authenticity however, I don't have a kitchen scales but it is heavy; and it's not magnetic.

Would anyone else like to add other info on this based on the photos?

Sandy texture does not leave me enthusiastic.
Inner circle of dots inconsistent slightly off circular alignment.
Details on reverse show no wear, but are indistinct for no wear.
If this coin were to be presented to me to buy, I would give it a miss.

I always like to see every coin in hand before deciding to buy, so I normally give ebay a miss. If buying from this source, I must know the seller first (usually a long established dealer).

Do a comparative ring tone test against another known genuine Yen of same type, or have a dealer do it for you. You may also ask of his opinion at the same time.

I have examples of both of these fakes in my collection.

Thank you Albert and sel_69l for your help with this. Just going through a bulk lot of coins I have acquired. I will take it to a dealer to confirm as well.

I have many genuine Japanese silver yen, and yes, this one is definitely fake.
The "sandy" texture is also present on the areas where there's been wear on the original coin from which it was (badly) cast: High points on the dragon, leaves and the chrysanthemum.
