Picked it up ten years ago from a local shop, I loved it, folded about 6x at one point but looks good.

Thoughts on value?

Anywhere I can go to redeem it for gold? Plus the cost of living increases from than until now

I'm not going to ask why you folded it...that's none of my business. I like the orange backs on these. I'm guessing it's worth somewhere between $200 - $300, maybe more if graded.

I don't think the OP meant that he himself folded it, only that it was folded about 6 times "at one point". Agree with your value estimates.

It wouldn't fit in my wallet on the way home.

Of course it wasn't me! Lol

$300 is what I paid, at least it didn't go down in value. Probably not worth grading though because of the folds?

The only way to redeem some of the value equivalent to gold
is to sell the note, and use the proceeds to buy a gold coin or bullion for the same amount.

Instead, I would be much more inclined to just keep the note.
It's value will follow collector market values, not loose any more value due to inflation.
