As long as you are using 100% pure acetone, I would conserve it. It would make it easier to see what really is there, and should not harm the coin at all. John1

It appears your coin has glue on it. So, yes, please do soak it in acetone so that may be removed.

Yes by all means give it a long soak in acetone . That 42 could wind up being a 42 over 1 over date .

Yeah It's pretty messed up but worth the effort had it been an over date .
