I am closing in on 2000 posts. I am thinking of reviving my banknotes guessing contest (see my 1000th and 1500th post contest). Would you all like that again? Let me know, because it is actually quite a bit of work to put together! I so enjoy posting on this forum. You all have been courteous and helpful to me. I am ordering prizes now!

No, not an easy contest. When I have a contest, I want it to be educational.

The first banknote contest was fun. I don't collect notes so it took a fair amount of time and research to come up with as many as I did (which was less than 10 out of the 26?). On the other hand, I recall that there weren't many entries until rather late in the run -- maybe that was expected given the effort involved.

The second banknote contest, I didn't participate in partly because I didn't have time (I knew what was involved) and I had a been-there/done-that feeling, perhaps because it was so close and so similar to the first one.

I really liked the "identify the thing from this small photo" concept (there was one with coins more recently) but I feel that concept has been played out, at least for now, unless there's another way to change it up.

And that's my 3¢.

I'd love to get a free coin, but 1) shipping would be a pain, and 2) honestly, I'm not enough of a newbie to still deserve any.

But yes, whatever contest you want. I'm not sure I could think of a good idea, anyway.

The banknote contests were great and I am happy to have participated in both and to win the second outright.

The participation was low for those, especially the second, but maybe we could actively create interest within different forums. I would suggest that if you do another banknote contest to lengthen the timeline. I know that when you're hosting a contest, you want it all to happen quickly. You have to tighten the reigns a bit to slow things down and that allows for more participants.

Whatever you decide upon, I will do my best to participate and maybe nudge some others to do the same if need be.

Great on the horizon.

How about, I thinking of a coin, closes guess wins...

or

Whatever your willing to give away, item, coin, banknote, whatever.
Each contestant has to write something about it or explain the history behind it and try not to be repetitive with other posts or write what you would do with the prize.

Well maybe a two step game, so that the extra time is waranted, or something crazy like find coins to spell out my username, stuff like that would be fun and doable even for new collector.
