Well I purchased Numismatic's Notebook today I have pondered it for a while and finally gave in. I like the fact it's simple to use.

Hi,

I previously reviewed the coin collecting software Exact Change. I have used Coin Manage, Coin Collectors Assistant, Coins Plus, and various other software on trial basis over the past couple of years. I have designed my own database and used Spreadsheets. A database may be the very best to go if you know Access (or databases) very well. A spreadsheet can certainly get the job done too. If however, you are looking for the best ready to use software available then Exact Change is more than worth the asking price in my humble opinion.

Exact change comes on a DVD, primarily because the program contains over 19,500 images. It is suited for both U.S. and World coin collections and in the case of me, who has U.S. and World coin and a Swiss shooting medal collection it is above the rest!

Exact Change has the capability of the user adding categories and customs reports (along with many pre-defined ones). It has all the bells and whistles of the major programs plus more.

To top it all off Exact Change has customer service that I believe is second to none. They answer your questions promptly and usually the next day. They have frequent updates which by the way are FREE forever! At $79.00 including free updates I don't believe there is a more reasonably price Coin Collecting Software program out there. Recently Wildman Software (Exact Change) introduced a bundle for $159.99 that includes the new Krause 3 DVD set of World Coin Catalogs.

I'm not affiliated to Exact Change in any way; I just want everyone to know that this company is for real...real customer service and designed by numismatists who listen to USERS for input and suggestions. The software is very well put together, easy to use and since the updates are part of the package you never have to pay again after purchase.

Ken, from this site, who has been so gracious to offer free Excel templates to member here has a Coin Software summary page where he compares various software packages: --He states Exact Change at $99, it is $79 at this time.

Exact Change also gives a comparison of software:

Exact Change now has a trial version of their software for anyone to try. It has a few limitations; these are specifically stated on their download page.

Give it a try and see for yourself what a great program it is:

If you look at the link http://typesets.wikidot.com/free-coin-templates again and scroll down, there is a link to a free version of software that will be able to work with your Excel sheets.

When they are talking about Office they are talking about the Microsoft office package that comes with a fair amount of PC's anymore. In that package is Word, Outlook, Access, Powerpoint, Frontpage and Access. Most of these programs are office related, hence the name, but are well used in most homes as well.

I have used Coin-Manage a little bit and it is fairly easy to use. The nice thing was that you can also set up multiple collections and can have them cross reference each other. This makes it nice if you have a Lincoln set but also a Type set that uses the same coin. Tights24 brought up also the fact of being able to set up where you bought it, the price and easy links to ebay auctions. I was using the 2005 version and found it a little disappointing that it did not have all the grades, for example, the Eisenhower dollars only graded from about AU50 and higher, so hopefully the newer version is better.

I must applaud WildMan Software for their excellent support. I had a problem with my Exact Change program after I installed a software update Saturday night. I sent them an email last night and received an email back from them this morning (Sunday). After several emails back and forth. I received a call from them with a resolution to the issue. I feel that their company is what all other software company's should strive to be like.

I agree with ClearwaterCoins. I have had Exact Change for quite some time and although I have not had any problems I have had several communications with them and they have always replied quickly to my questions. And to top everything off I feel their software is a step above the competition.

I purchased the Sandy Knoll software for $7.95 bryanb1 per your recommendation. Tell you what. I just needed a simple, easy to use interface program for my coins. It goes from Colonial-Dollars. All I need. Areas for comments as well as photos. I have more than 32 coins so I purchased it. The free trial version would be great for those who just have a few coins. I am transferring all my coins from my ledger to this. That way, I have a computer backup as well. Thanks again.

I use Coin Organiser Deluxe, by PrimaSoft. It is great! There are different databases templates to use, and you can use the designer part to create all the information fields you could want - text or numerical. There is of course room for pictures. You can filter by any of the fields, print reports, barcodes, etc...

I used to use a basic, free version of an inventory programme called MyStuff, but as the collection grew decided to invest in a more comprehensive option. Well worth it, and it makes keeping track of my coins a breeze! Sometimes it is like looking at my coin collection without actually looking at my coins!

I have never used the software, so I will briefly discuss a generic process.

First, you would have to install the software on the new computer. Do you still have the installation program (might be a CD/DVD or a file that you downloaded) from when you installed it on your old computer?

Second, export or copy the software's database from the old computer. You might be able to just find the DB file and copy it. If you cannot copy it, or are not sure what to copy, look in the software for an export function. Put the copy onto a CD/DVD, flash drive, network share location, etc.

Third, import or copy the database onto the new computer.
