My pics make it look really bad. In hand I can still see the tip of his moustache. I can also see a faint outline of the cross in the middle of the crown. His entire belt-hanging-on-the-shoulder thing is also there and it's not worn flat. And if it looks green in the photo it's not, but has a very dark brown, almost black colour, almost looks like the obverse was burnt.

Here is the pic before acetone if anyone wants to see how green it was. Not too green, but still not the green wanted on a coin:

It would be a G4? I don't think it'll hit a VG grade. If anyone thinks the pics are too dark I'll try again tomorrow.

I believe the tone is hiding details, if you look at him from straight above you almost can't see him because it's too dark. Here's an angled shot, still at G-4?

It's very dark, the background is a sheet of white paper I coloured black by using a permanent marker. I kinda doubt this is natural toning, what do you think?

it's nice that we can still find KGV pennies in rolls, but that being said, it isn't a jackpot. Congrats on your find!

Thanks! I don't always find one in every box I search, so I love finding these KGVs. Not a lot of small cents minted either during the time he was king. Found a '32 the other day, there's crud all over half of it and some hairy thing on top of the crud, and I'm quite sure it's in rather bad condition under that too from looking at the rim dings.
My acetone jar is used right now, still waiting to see if acetone takes intaglio off polymer.
