Hi all.

I picked up this coin yesterday at a car boot sale with two other coins from a private seller, FRIDD GREX BORUSS EL BR 1707, I would like some opinions if possible is it Real or a fake.
It weights 20 grams and is 39mm in diameter
Thanks for any help

Thanks for the reply turtleoverhead, I saw that site and also others with replica's for sale, the replica's I've seen all have a 38mm diameter and around 18 grams the coin I have is 39mm and 20 grams that's why I had doubts.

I have just noticed if you save and magnify the tales side on the link http://www.ioffer.com/i/140291505 you posted, look just above the "C-S-" the word copy is moulded into the coin, mine hasn't got the "copy" stamp on it.

Does anyone else have an opinion please.

The one thing that jumps out at me on your coin is how perfectly round your coin is... I have a few coins of that era from different Countries and not one coin is perfectly round... I now wished I had taken some edge photos to highlight this prior to having them certified, as the holder hides the edge details...

I see what you mean broken-coin, I have looked closely at photos of what I believe are genuine on the net, there seems to be more detail on my coin than them, I'm not 100% convinced it's genuine as there are so many good copies around.

I got it here in France with a sierra leone "1 leone" 10th anniversary 1964-1974 and a Hungarian 1938 5 pengo. We don't really have many fakes doing the rounds here, but they are about

Sorry to jump in late. The coin is without a shade of a doubt a counterfeit - modern and of very little value. I picked one up for about a dollar along with 100 others up in Boston at a coin show. Yours looks like a twin of mine. Mine is not silver but it has a fair ring. If you can perform a specific gravity test you should get about 9 to 9.1. They are a copper nickel alloy.

The lettering on the reverse is TOO thick and the edges are not shart. Mine when viewed under a microscope shows a surface roughness with NO flow lines. All of the transitions between field and devices are not sharp.
