There will most certainly be a dollar coin.

There will also be a two year wait. Precedents are difficult to change and there is no real hurry.

If they wait until the other 2 drop off, they can mint all 3 dollar coins...

That is... morbid!

I remember people almost hoping for Carter to pass in case they decided the legislation was too ambiguous and could not issue a Regan dollar (no skips).

Given that Carter died towards the very end of 2024.

Do you think the coin will dated 2026 or 2027 if a bill was passed to issue a President Dollar coin?

2027. To issue a coin in 2026 "2 years after" wouldn't allow more than a few weeks on-sale.

But of course, it's actually up to the idiots in Congress to write and pass a bill...

and with all the potential hoopla going on for the semiquincentennial, it would make more sense to drop it in 2027.

Fifty years after taking office in 1977 also seems fitting.

YEAH! Good point and I think it's locked in now. Hopefully someone besides you puts 2 + 2 together for this.

I would not bet on it, but I hope so as well.

If they do the C&C set, it would be fun if they also issued a 2025 Susan B. Anthony coin for it. Although it being a failure, maybe not so fitting.

I think having a Carter dollar along with a "Carter quarter" in a C&C set would be great.

I am not opposed to the idea. Whether it was a winner or loser, the SBA was a significant piece of numismatic legislation signed by Carter. The Reagan C&C got an ASE for that reason. Maybe we can finally get a silver SBA?

I would expect a silver version to be in the C&C set, but I cannot help but pine for a silver SBA! Perhaps they can add the silver SBA and a bronze medal. The Teddy, FDR, Reagan, and Bush 41 sets all had "silver and bronze" pairings with their golden dollar.
