First addition in a long time. Thanks to Coin Frog for the great note! This is a Hawaii note. The Hawaii overprint note is one of a series of banknotes (one silver certificate and three Federal Reserve Notes) issued during World War II as an emergency issue after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The intent of the overprints was to easily distinguish United States dollars captured by the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces in the event of an invasion of Hawaii and render the notes worthless. Although a sizeable number of the notes were recalled and destroyed after the end of World War II, many escaped destruction and exist as collectibles of numismatic interest in the present day.

Super nice addition Helder. The 1935A $1 SC emergency issued notes are some of my favorites. I'd show them to friends and they couldn't believe the cool block overprint of HAWAII on the back. I'd have to explain why a note with a date six years before Pearl Harbor could come about.

Good looking addition Helder. Odd denomination, wonderful engraved vignettes, interesting fonts and the bright red "Three" protector. Congratulations bud.

Thanks all! I really like these odd denominations. And being from NJ really made me want it.

I nearly missed this add bud! A $3.00 remainder in pristine condition from the good' ol days (cool scenes portrayed) & from NJ: what's not to like?

Way late to the party on this but man, that Hawaii note is sweet, hfjacinto! Congrats on an outstanding grade, too! Really cool $3 note too. Not sure I've ever seen one. What does the "Remainder" designation mean?

Quote: What does the "Remainder" designation mean? Remainder means it wasn't signed and therefore can't be used as currency. The bank printed more than it needed and these are remainders.
