Congrats on the straight grade, color looks iffy to me, but I'd say it is market acceptable on a circulated coin. Hope you got a great deal on it and came out well on a gamble, always fun when we do!

I'd say it goes au55, possibly an old cleaning based on the color. Nice looking 22 no d though. Don't see too many with that much detail left.

They grade coins so fast, I believe much of the time they see die clashing and just see flaws, toss a grade out of their prison wallet and move on.

Yeah, definite brown, zero red in hand. Heavy die polishing on the obverse.

I'm not so sure it is friction as much as the typical 24d weakness of the strike and the planchet when you see it in hand.

Exactly why I like trueview, added layer of security that most people don't think about. Can copy everything but the coin.

AU55, I don't think the color is wrong, but I'd say at some point it was possibly dipped or such, the lack of build up on a coin that is 171 years old that saw a little circulation should say that much. I don't see why it wouldn't straight grade though.

It's chocolate brown in hand, here's another I subbed a while back with similar color...gold luster. I'm gonna send it out this week. I'm gonna guess ms66bn, possibly 66+bn, far superior coin to the one I have for my registry.

(This is not the same coin, read above)

Same boat, rd cents may as well all be the same...started there, then got bored fast so moved to varieties, got bores just as fast.

Toners got the hook in good on me.

One of the cleanest chocolate brown memorials I have run into. Insane reverse surfaces.

Ms65bn, small chatter will hold it back from a 66bn I believe. They are super strict on browns, believe me...I've subbed a couple hundred of them trying to build a gem bn Lincoln registry.
