Thanks everybody. I enjoyed putting this set together and I learned so much about US coins along the way. I'm figuring out next steps in my collecting, so thank you MisterT for the suggestion to collect other type sets. |

I decided that filling the Dansco 7070 was going to cost me too much, so I decided to go with the Whitman US Type 20th and 21st Century Album (#3688). I pulled whatever coins I had from the Dansco and placed them in the Whitman US Type Album. I purchased coins to fill the holes, and did a couple of upgrades as well. Most of the newer coins are from Proof sets. I funded my purchases by selling some coins and other items I had locally.
I decided to place some of the coins with their reverse on the display side of the page. I did this mostly for the coins that had different reverses but the same obverse, such as the Quarters or Kennedy Half Dollars. I quite like how the pages look this way.
I may upgrade the Buffalo nickle, and perhaps the Morgan and Peace Dollars, but for now that's pretty much it for my US Type album. What do forum members think?

Does anyone know of an online list or have themselves a list of Conductivity and Resistivity Values for the Sigma Mini for coins that are not listed in the app's presets? I have some European coins that I would like to test of which none match the purity and composition of any of the coins listed in the app.
Thanks |

OK, I met my buddy at Starbucks this morning and he bright his Sigma along. I'm not sure what the difference in composition is between pre 1900 and 1900-1945 silver, but when the pre 1900 silver setting was used the Barber came up as being silver.
With the coin's visuals, weight, thickness, diameter, and Sigma all looking right, I'm sure this coin is real.
Yes, it does looked cleaned. Is there something special about this being from the San Francisco Mint? |

I've compared the three Barber Half Dollars I have side by side and don't see any really difference, other than from wear. The Barber passed the magnet test too. I'm pretty sure it's real. I'll retest tomorrow and post my findings. |

Does this 1905 Barber Half Dollar look OK? It weighs 12.1g, is about 1.65mm thick, and has a diameter of 30.5mm. From these specs it seems like it would be OK. However, when I placed this on my friend's Sigma, it did not register as silver. It was way off the scale.) An earlier dated Barber Half Dollar showed up as just fine. Can you tell anything from just looking at the coin? I am a relative beginner to coin collecting, so I could use input from forum members on this. Thanks.

I ordered a Charles Coronation Britannia. It looked beautiful when it arrived. I placed the Britannia in an Air-Tite right away. However, in less than a month it developed milk spots. I also purchased 50 non-Coronation Britannias for stacking at the same time. Now, because of the possibility of milk spots on these coins I will never buy them again. I also fear that I will never be able to get any of my premium back on these coins should they get milk spots. I should have stuck with my usual approach to stacking silver where I get generic, low premium coins. Lesson learned. |

I went back to the LCS on Thursday. I will not be going back to that store again, ever. I don't feel like elaborating. I chose to take jacrispies' advice to leave the store and move on.
On Friday, the following day, I went to the other LCS in town. I bought ten silver rounds (at $2.00 over spot), a BU Morgan Dollar for my US Type album, and 5 silver Washington quarters from his junk silver tray. My business will in future be with this LCS in town where I am treated respectfully, can browse though their constitutional silver, and the the owner is friendly toward his customers. |
