Thank you all for the input as I'm still training my eyes for the grading scale
it is graded ms63 by PCGS.
The hairline is not distracting. The marks on the high point on eyebrow and cheek plus the ding on the rim. The reverse is pretty much flawless with a small ding in front of the boat at 9 o'clock.
I would say it's worthy of MS65 when comparing with other silver dollar MS65 from the same era.
Thank you all for the insight! It was an ICCS MS63 from TCNA auction.
I also did not think about the possibility of jewelry piece as it was graded by ICCS and also appear in auction. lesson learned for future to not buy the coin based on photo appearance but to actually see it in person.
Thank you TerryT for identifying and bosox for the amazing site with great information, would love to get a book from you in person at future show if possible.
@silver101 thanks for the kind words, started collecting May 2022 so still fresh! I've realized to get quality rather than quantity especially on these 100+ y/o collectables.
I recently purchased this from TCNA auction and was wondering which Hexby number this could be?
Still new to coin collecting and have been browsing through victoriancent.com but there are a lot of information to digest. In the meantime I could use some expert help from the group with identifying the 1859 cent!
