Greetings form Wan

Just received this penny, there are die cracks on the reverse, I've searched the IHC varieties web book by David Poliquin but didn't find this type, only variety 46 has similar Die Cracks from 1:00 to 2:00. Have you ever seen this?

Hello! I checked this coin and didn't find many problems except the traces I circle out.

Would these affect grading? What do you think.

Bought it for $13.9, which I think is a good price.

Congrats!
Up grading a collection is a challenging but memorable process.

Perhaps Buffalo nickel has a special meaning for you. I have heard many Chinese translated versions of the story of Buffalo nickel. Anyway, good luck to you

plus: Beautiful album front cover.

Dear all,

This 1908-S Indian Head Penny got a grade of AU-details (Environmental Damage) .Is this because the corrosion around the portrait?

And I wonder if NGS's coin conservation service would be helpful.

Plus: It is asked for about $167, worth buying?

1873-S Seated Half Dime ( The Last Year ) And Conversation

Dear all

I've receieved this 1873-S Seated Half Dime today for $42.03 ( I will always provide quotations for everyone's reference ). It has multicolored, speckled toning. And as a promise, I think I will start to collect some higher quality coins. And this one ( for me ) maybe in the best condition I've ever had.

So many enthusiastic friends in this fourm encouraged me to stack better coins, if I take their advice, I will not be able to buy coins very often(which I was doing now).
And I've thought about it. I found that my collection have the following characteristics:

No.1: Most of them are relatively rare numismatic coins.
For example, that 1873-CC Arrows Seated Quarter, 1837 Large Date Seated Dime, 1839 No Drapery Seated Quarter(which proved to be genuie BUT incorrectly cleaned and polished ), 1875-CC Seated Dime, 1841-O Drapery Seated Half Dime, 1860/4/6 S Seated Half Dollar.

No.2: Most of them have problems which make them would only get "details".
For example#65292;1873-CC Arrows Quarter with a loop, 1841-O Drapery Seated Half Dime with a hole...

No.3: They're all cheap, 1841-O Drapery Seated Half Dime only costs me $7.00, 1873-CC Arrows Seated Quarter for $90.00...

Combine those three factors, I found it's some kind of abnormal collection. Maybe that is because I chase rare types too much and ignore the qualities. I've never really thought about it untill these days.

What makes me change my mind? There are simple two reasons. First: Let more high -quality coins be properly preserved.through my knowledge.
Second: Make my efforts more "worthy".

I would like to hear the stories of incresing your classic coins' quality(After all, the quality of classic coins has greater room for improvement compared to modern coins.) or would you choose to chase coins that are more common but in nice condition rather than rarer coins in poor condition if you don't have enough budget?

Plus: In my daily life, as far as now I am more inclined to find ways to save money, for example, I could make egg noodles in the dormitry myself, it only costs me arpund 50c. If I go to the dining hall, they can sell a bowl of egg noodles for $1.50. Maybe it just because I haven't started to earn money yet, though my parents always tell me:" learn how to make money rather than save money."
They give me money monthly, and I've did a calculation of these two years' expenditure, it shows that I will spend around 20% monthly living expenses on coins. I think it is OK, and maybe will carry on for a period.

@ironhorse
Actually this is the first time saw seated half dollar, and at that time(2015), I was in primary school, I've talked about this Mikey Mouse book. Yes, as the fat guy who sat behind me handed me this book and told me there was a coin raffle, I saw the seated half dollar on the book, I was just astonished by the design. Just like the design, don't know why. except flying eagle cent, there is no another coin that gives me this feeling. sometimes comic book is a good thing haha(though I am not a cartoon fan)

@Spense
I can access to the website! Thank you!

@ijn1944
Thank you! Vintage is a good adj haha.

@jbuck
It seems you are really familiar with all the posts, new advertisements, Thank you!

@Hondo Boguss
It's really convenient, I think I'm also interested in old news! Thank you!
And I don't konw in people will use "UNC, small date, small o..." It seems there is truly a long history of grading coins...just amazing!

@kbbpll
I'm speechless. I think liberty head nickel is a modern type for them.
Were they sending the books with coin in it? I wonder what will happen if you just take the coins hahaha. But it just like the stories that I could only heard in other peoples' mouth. Envy all who have experiensed that
period. I know the Littleton coin company, I think they always design some attractive wrap.

@bobby 131313
Interesing, does it means they will help you to apply copper to steel cent?

Maybe I just can't properly describe it cause I couldn't find any pics on website.
But I know you can understand what I mean. I've heard many things of old coin advertisement on newspapers during 1950s to 1990s(maybe dealers would like to post their news on website rather than on newspapers since 21 centetry).

But I just can't find one. I'd be appreciated if you can post some.

Dear Catbert and DOCC
I also think there might be a weak strike, becasuse the rest parts of the coin are relatively "new". I've got it at a very low price.

Dear Coinfrog
I will upload some new pics after finishing the calsses in the morning,the coin is in the dormitory.
