@Zurie and @Bump111

Thanks very much for the catch on the VAM. I hadn't made that connection yet.

This is also a new acquisition that arrived today but I saw die cracks as I was evaluating the weak strike, so thought I'd post in this forum.
One crack is seen across the left wing tip (eagles right) and another longer one running from below the 2nd S in STATES, through the right wing tip (eagle's left) and down to the tip of the laurel leaf.

I'd like to get a book that helps identify half cents and large cents varieties, understand the various "codes" such as N-8, R-2, etc.
Is this book a good resource or does anyone have other recommendations?

I also did a little looking around. I'm not an expert on this issue but I had a similar "MM appearance" a few months ago and the consensus was it was an odd PMD, something hitting the O just the right way to knock it to the right. Anyway, I didn't see any known varieties that I could find. My grading guess it's a G6 maybe * if you're lucky, Red Book says low mintage of 632,000 so might be worth a 150-200 bucks.

I checked my VAM reference book , Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars and my guess is this might be a 6R or a 10R.

Anyone else care to have a look?

@adam

re:Toning, personally, I find some toning very attractive, especially if it's even and "golden" as your commem appears to be. I don't care for the blotchy spots I sometimes see.

I want to sell a few coins from my collection, only about 20, and they range in value from$200 to $500 ( maybe). I called Heritage and they said I can take pics, and send them raw and if they are expected to bring $150 or so ( or more), then THEY will submit them to TPG service and deduct that expense from auction sales.

Anyone have any opinions or suggestions about this?

Thanks,
GT

*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Just got this one a couple days ago. It has significant enviro damage but what fun to hold a 220 year old US coin in the palm of your hand and wonder where it's been.
