I didn't submit. Assumed it was a dinger. However, with your coin and the similarities I'm anxious to hear the results. Please use my photos for additional reference.
The final tally on last weeks cent box. Wheaties stayed hot! Finished with 22. Earliest was a 1919. AU 1955 D was the nicest condition of the Wheaties. Three 1959's. Two Canadian. Most intriguing is a 1961 D. Looks like an exogenous clash. I'll be posting details on the Modern Error and Variety Forum soon.
Having dealt with Mr Diamond and his expertise on a few questionable coins over the years I'm sure he would have a more substantive explanation and would be cautious to equivocate certainty without having the coin in hand. E&V and Greasy Fingers..... It is possibly PMD. However, if it is PMD it would have had to have been damaged a long time ago (100+ years ago). I do appreciate your skepticism as it validates this is a rare find in circulation. I maintain it is a legitimate MD clip and have no problem offering it to the community as genuine.
