Evening,

Following a recent health problem, I have decided, with regret, to part with a chunk of my collection for financial reasons, largely my copper and bronze.

My listings are all on ebay, and all are high quality examples, either good extremely fine or better. Most of them raw, but a few graded.

I have them listed for UK sale only, but if anyone overseas is interested, I am happy to work out postage and change the listing accordingly. I have no idea if there are any extra fees involved for importing them into your country, but I will obviously not be responsible for the payment of those.

My listings are on ebay here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_...perdeedoodah

Feel free to message me any time, I'm not going anywhere.

Kip.

Cheers frog,

Would this be something that NGC conservation be able to sort out? Does that then get a details grade afterwards?

Thanks IGE,

I haven't had anything with this graded before, so wasn't sure what the deal was. If seen some of the copper and bronze get straight grades with similar, but I can only try I suppose.

Hi,

After a recent illness, I'm catching up with some coins I'm looking to submit to NGC. This one is the rare B over RITTANIAR variety, but I'm concerned over the carbon spots (?) on the reverse. Is this likely to straight grade with NGC, or get details? Obverse is fine.

Many thanks

This was the other lot I picked up at auction this week. A 1697 sixpence with the GULIElMUS legend error.

Probably the right thing to do, Brian. Neil knows how many beans make five and Emma knows that area very well.

Good luck with the auction. I'm surprised Heritage took that view. I've won a coin from them before for $85!

EDIT: Just saw the single coin bit. Eyesight isn't what it used to be

Thanks Manosgerms,

There seem to be a few years with inverted A's in the legends, but it seems that the 1699 with plain angles is the most scarce.

This is a link I found from Spink which gives a bit of interesting info:
https://www.spink.com/lot/24004000217

I'm going to send the images over to Maurice Bull who writes the ESC to get his opinion, although without seeing in hand, he may be non-committal.

Afternoon,

I recently picked this 1699 sixpence up and wanted some expert eyes to have a look please.

I saw it and immediately thought that it looks like an inverted A in GULIELMUS. If it does, it's rated R5 in English Silver Coinage make it extremely rare.

What do you think? Images could be clearer, but I don't have a microscope.

Hi Brian,

Heritage Auctions have a London based office, so maybe speak to them to possibly consign to one of their auctions. They are probably the largest with the biggest reach, but they do charge a fee for sellers of 15% I believe. You could probably drop it into their office instead of relying on the post.

As Paddy says, the Americans are well into graded coins so there would be no difficulty selling I'm sure.

What do you have to sell, as I collect high quality copper and bronze pre decimal, so could be interested.

I've been busy in the market this year but not got round to posting many new acquisitions due to my office being upside down and builders around the house.

Anyhoo, here's a 1919H Penny I recently picked up which is in really good nick.

Thanks both, as always.

The machine doubling seems to be common around this time with her coinage. I've noticed it quite a few times.
