After a 1-year hiatus (which also allowed me to be the reigning champ a little longer :), the NFL contest is back!
Here is the thread to officially start the 11th Annual CCF NFL contest We are merely days away from the beginning of the NFL regular season. Here are the rules:
- pick 1 team every week
- each pick must be posted every THURSDAY by 6:00pm forum time
- once you pick a team you cannot pick that team again
- if your team wins, you continue in the contest
- if your team loses or ties you are OUT
- if you fail to make a pick on time or you pick a team you have already used, you are OUT
- once you pick there will be no editing; editing = OUT
- I will post a summary of each player who is eliminated each week
- as we get down to the last few players, if all remaining players are eliminated in the same week, then those same remaining players will be alive to continue the game as before (example; let's say 3 players are left in week 9 and they all lose that week, all three of them would come back to keep fighting it out until we have 1 player left standing)
- last person standing gets a coin/currency related gift from all of the players (losers choice)
***This is NOT the place to vent your views on NFL policies/kneeling players, BLM, political concerns, COVID/mask complaints, or whatever else is bothering you. This thread is for our regular NFL contest only, play if you like, enjoy the NFL season, have fun!
you must have 50 posts to play. Just post in this thread that you are in and I will list a full roster of players right before kickoff this Thursday. Please post your picks in this thread each week.
** First pick will be due in 1 week, by Thursday Sept 9th by 6:00 pm**

Here is the thread to officially start the 10th Annual CCF NFL contest (wow it has been a decade already)! We are merely days away from the beginning of the NFL regular season. It has really crept up since there was no preseason this year. Here are the rules:
- pick 1 team every week
- each pick must be posted every THURSDAY by 6:00pm forum time
- once you pick a team you cannot pick that team again
- if your team wins, you continue in the contest
- if your team loses or ties you are OUT
- if you fail to make a pick on time or you pick a team you have already used, you are OUT

*** PLEASE READ: this year we have an extra COVID wrench thrown in. Hopefully this season goes all the way but with the pandemic you just never know what will happen. So to avoid an abrupt end to the season with no winner I will add an extra step so that we can crown a champion no matter what. Each week when you post your pick in this thread simply put the team you pick AND the amount you think they will win by. The difference between your guess and the winning margin will be figured each week and will be a cumulative total as the season goes on. These numbers will ONLY come into play if the season is shutdown for good. If the season ends before we have a champion we will take the remaining players and whoever has the lowest point total wins.
Example:
week 1: you pick Dallas to win by 10
if Dallas wins 13-7 then your point total would be 4 (you guessed 10 and they won by 6 so you were off by 4). These would be a running total for each week so the closer you are to the winning margin the lower your score will be.
We will take the first 15-20 players who respond to this thread and have 50 posts.
You may then post your picks in this thread each week.

Speaking of delayed, I have delayed getting the pics up. I have them saved and they are under the 300KB requirement (most of them well under it), but they still won't upload. On the optimizer it shows them as 171KB and another at 229KB which should be good to go, but when I save them and upload them it rejects them saying they are over the 300KB limit. Thanks to LoonieLewy for giving me tips to get me this far. I don't consider myself that computer illiterate or anything but who knows with technology I guess lol. |

Unfortunately, going to have to wait a bit longer. I have been playing around trying to get the photos off my camera to post on here, but that's not happening. It doesn't seem to make what should be an easy task very easy on here. I have them resized so they are under the limit and then the optimizer says they are good to go but then they won't upload, so maybe I will come back and try again later but I have wasted enough time for now.
Anyhow, I hope to have them posted sometime soon so you all can see the great prizes. It has been awesome getting all these nice gifts. I really appreciate the kindness of everybody. Thanks so much!! |

| CAC stickers kind of seem odd to me anyhow. It seems like you are just grading another person's grade. One professional looks at a coin and grades it whatever they believe it to be, and then another person looks at it and gives their opinion on the opinion of the first person. Should we have another person add a "+" or "-" to the CAC sticker and then somebody else give a bonus smiley face if they deem it even better? It would be like a teacher giving a B and then another teacher reviewing that and saying it is really a B+ (when in fact the first teacher could have given a B+ but chose not to based on their opinion). I guess I get why people like the CAC stickers but we all know 5 people can look at the same coin and give it 5 different grades so really the CAC sticker is just one of those other peoples opinions so the bottom line is, you should evaluate the coin yourself and use your judgement in making an assessment. |

Wow after all these years I almost feel bad winning my own contest!
Thanks everybody.
Great run cpfull! (to answer your question, Washington didn't have a great chance at the end but they did score a touchdown and if they would have recovered their onside kick they would have had a chance to win in the last minute or so).
