in reality, the RCM doesn't care about after-market sales or the price of the coin on the secondary market. The mint is the profit-oriented only body The mint has a network of worldwide dealers, including eBay sellers as well. at least 70% of all releases are distributed through dealers' networks. They can manipulate the price of the coin and create a temporary high demand for some coins situation in order to rise the price. If the dealers cannot release the products, especially on eBay, they drop the price below official RCM releases. Unfortunately, 60-70% of the RCM coins lose or do not gain value on the secondary market. it's my personal opinion after 10 years of buying and selling RCM coins. I agree the mintage of the RCM coins is too high. The Thems of the coins are primarily oriented to the Canadian market.
I have seen the same problem with my 2020 peace dollars.I found the same issues with the 2019 Peace and Liberty medal, and 2021 peace dollar. The issue was reported to RCM, the following feedback was received: " The effect of ageing is a natural occurrence that is inherent in the coining business in that over time effects such as tarnish, toning or discolouration will appear. Using your older samples of the Peace and Liberty coin as examples supports this in that they did not have discolouration when received and inspected but developed the condition after the fact. These effects are inevitable but normally slow due to process enhancements that we have developed at the Royal Canadian Mint. The frequency and timeliness of this matter has drawn concern and these processes will be reviewed. In addition, all house inventory of the Peace Dollar has been held in quarantine and will undergo a thorough inspection and investigation." I don't satisfy with the feedback.
Thank you to everybody. I agree with tripoli; some PF70 and MS70 coins gain HUGE premium vs regular coins. I'm planning to send a few GB Silver Two Ounces 2019 Una and the Lion, 2020 Canada Peace Gold Coins.
