Half dollars would still be OK because 50 is divisible by 10. Maybe bring back the twenty cent piece?

Nine dollars at the Dollar Tree store. This includes a fifty cent tip to the cashier for getting a used cardboard box out of the back instead of a flimsy paper sack for my heavy items. She said her manager would be excited when he sees the half dollars.

Two dollars at the Speedway for a Powerball ticket. The cashier immediately swapped the halves out with her own dollar bills before putting the money in the register.

$25,638.50 to go

My first impression is that it went for a ride in the washing machine with the rest of the laundry.

So, what are you folks doing? Going to the bank and gathering up Kennedy halves to spend out in the wild?

That's exactly what I am doing. Of course, I pull out all of the good ones first. I ended up with a box with $780 a month ago. Nothing in that batch worth saving. A lot of original BU rolls from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It makes me a little sad to spend them but saving them is not a good idea because of inflation.
