Cash is still king for me, and I'm very much of the generation that gets branded as "tech-obsessed". I will use my card if I have to, but most of my transactions are cash. I try and avoid places that are card-only, and will avoid like the plague anywhere that insists I download an app.
I, too, find it eerie the amount of monitoring that occurs. If I can short-circuit that data supply, I will. |

I wish people were more capable of employing a little critical thinking in cases like this. If you need to ask whether it's fancy, then it's not fancy enough to merit a premium or else you wouldn't need to ask. |

I imagine tellers probably do get quite bored of coin roll hunters, to be fair. Banks aren't coin shops. Their duty is to supply you with a banking service, and part of this includes reasonable requests for physical currency. If you ask for 20 rolls of cents (not pennies - they are CENTS and I wish people would call the American coin as such), and they supply you with 20 rolls of cents then they have done their job regardless of whether they're all freshly minted 2024s, all 1909 S-VDBs, or a random smattering of dates. I've seen some people on here (I'm not directing this at you) who seem to think that it's a bank's duty to supply them with interesting coins. This is what makes good relationships valuable - if you get someone willing to assist you, then don't abuse the privilege (and also use separate banks for picking up/depositing, as you seem to now realise). |

@Dearborn I think you're overreacting here. You was (fairly politely) suggested to post coins in the acquisitions thread to avoid the subforum being littered with new posts. It's not an unreasonable request and doesn't mean people don't appreciate them. If everyone created a new topic for each coin they had, then it'd be impossible to really find anything amongst all the posts, and those needing genuine help wouldn't be seen. |

Sap isn't quite right on Bank of England notes - they are only legal tender in England and Wales. Scottish banknotes aren't legal tender anywhere - even in Scotland. BoE notes and Scottish notes are legal currency, though, and may be accepted at the discretion of shops. |

Hello,
I have been asked to look at a coin collection later on today. Whilst I'm very comfortable looking at English currency, I'm informed there are quite a few sets/coins from the Isle of Man and other channel island (such as the Falklands). Is there an online guide I can realistically consult so I have a better idea?
Many thanks |
