Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a while. I recently came across a 1958 D cent that weighs in at 2.5 grams. The coin is thinner in diameter than a normal cent. There is no acid damage or filing marks on the coin. I know there is a thing on here to not post bad photos and to post more than one photo and I seem to have broken that rule. :( lol
Here's a picture

I think it's AU details, environmental damage. To me, any dark copper like that that's in the form of large cents or half cents, is almost 100% environmentally damaged. Still got pretty decent detail to say the least.

The cellophane unfortunately is not the original from the mint. Had it been the original, the top and bottom of the set would be light blue. It appears to me as an aftermarket set.

Got wind here on the West Coast from another roll hunter on the East. Could be like someone said less of a need. Or possibly someone got sick in a FED facility or delivery of coin has become dangerous for the armored services couriers as there is very little social distance in a truck, and as I recall you need at least two if not three people at all times to escort funds to a financial institution. Let's just hope it clears up in a few weeks.

Looks like it had been exposed to some chemical agent that unnaturally toned it.

That's super interesting. Grading would help as to verify the authenticity of the error. Would make a buyer feel more comfortable and confident that he or she was buying a legitimate error. GrapeCollects is a great resource for this kind of thing.

Hey everyone,
I have been meaning to do some research on how coin roll hunting has evolved over the past couple of decades and how have finds changed over the years.
I have heard a story of a gentleman who coin roll hunted in the 1960's and found some pretty amazing coins from seated quarters and halves to a Trade Dollar found in a roll of Peace and Morgan Dollars (This was the 1960's so a lot of silver dollars still floated around in commerce).
Also, I have heard other stories of boxes of halves being loaded with silver before 2000, but I want to see if others can validate the truth behind that story.
If anyone can share some great stories or finds, and what it was like to coin roll hunt back in the day, that would be very appreciated!

Some shops sell grab-bag like items. I would also suggest looking on eBay.

The "fold" on the top of one of the walking liberty halves seems to be a vice grip which I dented the coin. It's post mint damage or PMD

Huh that is strange. I wouldn't call it a gouge that's more raised. Possibly a dropped letter or something. Definitely out of the ordinary.
