Sent a PM about roll of bat counterstamps as that would be nifty to put in the bat collection.

I didn't receive an email, but the roll has already started being pieced out.

The RCNA's annual convention is virtual this year. While I'll miss the in-person normalcy, I think it's a nice change that anyone can attend without the restraint of travel. The seminars and most of the meetings are free and open to everyone, not just members.

Below is a link to convention information from the website:

https://www.rcna.ca/2021/

I'll post more, like the Zoom instructions for attending, here if there's interest.

3) Geoffrey Bell Auctions
• Used by the Toronto Coin Expo twice a year and they have a few others as well.
• These guys are the most expensive! It is a 20% buyers premium plus 3% if paying with PayPal or credit card, plus $5 for "packaging and processing".
• On past auctions they do not say what the winning bid was, only the starting price and estimate.
• Generally a very good selection of items.

These guys are the most transparent. For past auctions, all you have to do is sign into iCollector - this is something iCollector has implemented, I believe, not the auction house. And here's a tip, if you email bids in advance, the buyers' premium is lower.

Thanks for the replies. I did check with the person that made the CNA ebulliten reference and he doesn't recall the hoard either. I do see there's a reference to it in two April 2003 Coin World magazines (online snippet via the Newman Numismatic Portal), but I don't know anyone that would have it lying around and Coin World doesn't seem to have an online archive.

I've seen a number of coins, 5 and 10-cent silver it seems, with reference to the Doaktown Hoard. What and where was this? Part of the reason for asking is because there's a Doaktown in NB.

If it's eBay, there's nothing tricky about it. Just open a case that you didn't receive what you bid on.

The issue price of the PL counterstamped Citadel Coins silver dollar was $100. They've sold for $300 plus. It was odd that one didn't sell.

It looks as though there may be as many as 1000 out there. First time seeing one for me though.

It seems as though most of these have the generic side without the USA designation, but perhaps contact someone with CAWMC (Canadian Association of Wooden Money Collectors) to see if they're aware of this version. There's a good chance they'll know how many were produced if it's listed in the main catalogue.

Interesting. I'd like to do up a short piece/article for a newsletter, but can't send you an email because you're both new members. Can I get permission to use your images?

They can add value. As someone that used to authenticate signatures in my job, these look a little suspect. I would need to see a good example of Beattie's signature (not the printed one on a note) to be able to tell for sure. Not saying they're not the real deal, but I see red flags.
