Hi,

I have a Belgium coin that I would like to put on my site. I have identified it as a Belgium KM# 153.1 25 CENTIMES. I know its a very common coin with little value but I want to display it anyway.

I like to include the text written on the coin with its description. There is some text on the reverse side below the large B. It looks like T. L. MAILI + two symbols.

Does someone know what is written below the B? I would appreciate the help.

See photos.

Joe K.

Thank you very much for the info. I went ahead and added it to my site with a note that the coin is different from what the book states.

Thanks again,

Joe

Hi,

I have a KM# 10 10 FILS, 1955 (AH1374) coin from Jordan. The kp 2008 book says the weight should be 5.9g but coin actually weighs 9.96g. Also the book says the diameter should be 25mm when the coins actual diameter is 28mm.

I don't have another coin to compare it with. Could it be a piefort? Or is the book wrong? (I checked a 2005 kp SCOFWC book and the coin pictured measured 28mm. My newer 2008 books' picture measures 25mm.

All help will be appreciated.

Joe

Thanks for your help alganbagerap.

Can I determine the actual date of the coin from its regnal year?

I see dates like AH1187///(119)7 in the coin book. Can you explain this date notation?

Please help identify this coin. It maybe an Egyptian 1701-1800 Zeri Mahbub coin.

The coin is 2.5g, 21.3mm and has a hole near the top. It looks like it could be made of gold.

If anyone can read Arabic, I would like to know what the Legends say and what year it was made.

Thanks - Joe K.

Hi, Hope someone can identify this coin.

It is an old coin made from copper or bronze I think. I weights 7.8g, 20.7mm diameter and 3.4mm thick. The surface shows tiny spots of a copper-ish color but the rest for the coin is coated in a thick/hard/shiny green coat.

The size is not quite round and looks like it was a 9-sided coin at one time. I found the coin in a collection I bought from a local coin dealer.

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks for all the help!
Thanks for the tissue trick, I was hoping there was something simple I could do to tell if a coin is silver.

boikemist6,

If I understand correctly, the fact that my coin weighs 0.2 gram more than the weight from the book means I have a silver coin? I guess they wouldn't vary the thickness of the two coins?

Thanks for your help.

I have a coin from Isle of Man. It looks like a silver coin but there is a Copper-Nickel coin in the same series. Krauses' "KM# 81a CROWN" is silver and "KM# 81 CROWN" is Copper-Nickel.

Both coins measure 38.5mm diameter per the book and the one I have is 38.5mm. The weight of the silver coin is given as 28.2800g. but the weight of the Copper-Nickel isn't given. The my scale says the coin weight is 28.5mm plus or minus 0.1g.

The difference between the book weight 28.2800 and my scale's reading is only 0.1 to 0.2 grams. Is this enough difference to say the coin is not silver? Is there a way I can determine if a coin is silver without measuring?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the help

The edge is reeded with some letters stamped in it but I can't read them. Is the legend enough to tell its a 117.1? If so, then I really don't need to know what the edge says to determine the KM #?

I am still lost on the Position A and Position B distinction. Can you explain the difference?

Hi,

The coin I have questions about in a Belgium KM# 117.1 or KM# 117.2.

I can't tell if this coin is a 117.1 or 117.2 or whether its a Position A or position B coin. I read about the lettering with the crown and lettering with the star but I don't see what their talking about.

Help

Jays-Dad,

You might be right about both of our coins. I guess they are charms made to look like real coins

Many Tunisia and Turkish coins are shown in the book with holes like ours. It would be interesting to know what the inscription says on the reverse side of the coins.

The coin I would like help with is either a Tunisia or Turkish coin. I think that because I've found coins close to this one in the World Coins catalog 1801-1900, pages 1087-88. The obverse looks like KM#88 4 Kharub but the reverse doesn't match.

The stats of the coin are:

2.3g, 21.2mm, brass looking color.

I would like to know the correct KM # for this coin.

Thanks for your help.
