One of the reasons I haven't been on CCF for the last year or so, is I have been dealing with health issues, first it was prostate cancer, then during my pre radiation treatment CT scan, they discovered that my hips were deteriorated. After my radiation treatment, I went in for an MRI for my hips, during that MRI, I went into AFIB, so before I could get my hips replaced, I had to go in for an ablation. Finally after a year of waiting I finally went in and got both hips replaced at the same time. A few months after that I had to go in for the 2nd ablation. Now after a few more months of waiting, tomorrow I am going in for lower back surgery, cleaning out the nerve canals that have bone growth, so my nerves aren't pinching anymore, which by the way was the original complaint for seeing a Dr. in the first place. Next month is my 2-year cancer check up and I already know that I am cancer free, my primary couldn't wait until the cancer center took a PSA test, so we know what the results are going to be. Feeling great but still not done, still have some heart and blood pressure issues to figure out. Before Hip surgery I was on 3 blood pressure meds, after hip surgery they had to take me off 2 of them because my blood pressure would get too low, now it stays pretty much normal, but occasionally some days it is low and some days it is high. Just wish it would stay normal all the time. (Maybe some of those high BP times is when I lose an ebay auction because I made a stupid mistake. )

Would you like to have more "W" quarters? I have over 50 of them - maybe we can swap some coins.

Thanks for the offer, but I really don't have any extra's lying around. Anything I had extra of I sold off to buy things I needed.

Friday I was running errands and stopped at 3 different places where I received change back. When I got home I looked at my change and lo and behold, there was the illusive 2020 quarter with a W mint mark.

I started off collecting tokens about 4 or so years ago. I bought a couple of bulk quantities of tokens. I flipped them and sorted them out by category, car wash, parking, telephone, shell oil tokens, and ETC... Then I decided that if I am going to put so much time into the hobby I would narrow down my parameters of what I would collect. I now focus on the County of any town I lived in, Any us military base I was stationed at and surrounding communities, and finally any us military token from any country I was stationed in, which for me was Korea.. It been fun and frustrating at the same time but I sure wouldn't change anything..

I'm a glutton for punishment, I have a min of 3 sets each of 1958 to 2020 Mint sets and a min of 3 sets each of 1958 to 2020 Proof sets. For some reason or another I have never collected the silver sets. Sometimes I'll buy sets just to break open and fill holes in my albums.

If they couldn't be exchanged/redeemed for a specific value, they are not tokens (i.e., money substitutes) - medal would be the proper term.

The coins are purchased at a DU banquet, each coin has a number stamped on it, there is also a number matching ticket that goes into a bucket. The coins are good for whatever was being raffled off, Shotgun, rifle, pistol, wildlife print, ETC, for that corresponding coin. Throughout the night different raffles are held, if my coin wins something then does that mean that it is really a token, and all the losing coins are just a medal

For the last couple of years or so I have been trying to put together a set of these DU coins, some people call then tokens, some call them medallions. About a month ago I finally completed the set thru 2019. I have been told that because of the pandemic they did not produce the coins in 2020 and they are not producing the coins in 2021 and that the series may be over and not produced any more.

The coin series actually started in 1996, but in 1987 they produced a 50th Anniversary coin.

I have been trying to get in touch with Dansco to see if they are producing the custom albums yet, but I have not heard back from them, so for now I put then in a couple of Whitman albums.

OK, I've searched both of Paul Cunningham Military Token books, Patrick O'Donnell's US Military Tokens of Korea book, and the token catalog online and I cannot find any information on this token

Any help will be appreciated

After almost 20 days of research and a few emails to some authors of tokens books, I finally have the location figured out. This token was used in Tokyo, Japan between the years 1945 and 1950.

Just got an email from the mint announcing the first 2 honorees for the new American Woman Quarter Program (Public Law 116-330). The first two honorees are Maya Angelou and Sally Ride. This series will run from 2022 thru 2025.

I have been debating whether to keep collecting quarters after the ATB series was over, now I am second guessing myself about collecting or not. Maybe I will wait to make my decision until the new designs are out.

I've had pretty good luck id'ing my military tokens but this one is proving to be a little difficult. Cannot find this on the Token Catalog, or in Paul Cunninghams Military Token books. The 1st 3 graders clubs are listed in Germany, Japan, Hawaii, Vietnam and Korea. I am going to assume this is 1st Cavalry Division Divarty (Division artillery) Just not sure if this Korea or Vietnam. Any help with location would be appreciated.

About a year or so ago I finished sorting 2-5 gallon containers of coins, I separated out the coins by denomination, then by year, then by mint mark. Took me about 3 years. I have a Cassida C200 coin counting machine which helped in separating out the coins by denomination, the rest was sorting out by hand. I used paper bowls and index cards to help with the process. After everything was sorted out by year and mint mark, I ran the coins through the coin counter and recorded the results for my inventory. I had enough coins to start 3 albums each of each denomination. After all that was finished I started hitting the local coin shops to get coins I was missing. Also as I was sorting them out I looked for error coins, I found a couple but they weren't worth anything special. After my albums were finished and I had everything I wanted, I decided to keep all coins up to 1979, all coins from 1980 on were cashed back into the bank. Good luck with your coins and have fun!

TNG, there are hundreds of those shell oil game coins on ebay, both the State and the Presidents, just not the ones I have listed.

Picked up this nice USS Pueblo Commemorative Medallion the other day. For those of you that don't know about this, 12 years after signing of the armistice agreement, the North Koreans went into international waters and captured the USS Pueblo and her crew. They kept the crew imprisoned and tortured for a year before they were finally released.
