A big thanks to santa from Canada

1968 Mint set, 2017 commemorative toonie and loonie, and a very cool christmas quarter from 2006

Santa also sent me some large cents and small cents. The 1916 cent has a nice circulation cameo and the color of the 1919 one has a beautiful, uniform brown color.

Once again, thanks santa

Hello again everyone!

A few months ago, I was admitted to University of Toronto but did not receive the scholarship. Since I was umable to finance such costly study, I looked for other alternatives.

Long story short, I end up here in Cheng Shiu University in Taiwan, studying Business Administration.

I've been here for a month, mostly busy buying groceries, foodstuffs, and managing my dorm-mates (got appointed as the leader of the 3rd floor of the dorm).

During my first month here I got 2 circulating commemorative coins, it's a new experience for me to actually get commemoratives from circulation

Being unfamiliar with British culture, I find that some of the designs are too abstract, and/or not identifiably British.

The breakfast looks delicious and the Stonehenge looks decent though.

I see, thanks for your opinion. It indeed looks rather staircase-like but oddly shows some doubled serifs...

Hello.

I'm not an expert on ancient coins, but from what I learnt in this forum, yours seems to be fake.

It looks too round and "too new". When compared to your reference, the details are just wrong.

The horse and the rider lack details (just smooth), and the temple looks different. Take a closer look, it's not that hard to spot them.

Last but not least, the realized price on your reference shows 50000 CHF (swiss francs), which is roughly 50000 USD.

Usually, if something is worth a lot of money, many fakes will flood the market.

So if it's 8MB, it's now only 2MB

Seems like some support issues. My old java-based phone can only open images up to 5MB max, so large images have to be manually converted/resized prior to transfer, or automatically by allowing Windows to do it while transferring (may not always work). If you didn't do it then the computer did it.

With the click of the correct buttons, the images should be able to get in to the phone intact. Opening them on the phone is another story though.

Android phones don't seem to have problems with bulky images at all.

@JBuck:

The last unread post (which would need to be determined to "bold" the page number with the last unread post) is different for every user and needs more processing to find.
That's inevitably true, and since some threads contain hundreds of pages and thousands of posts, it becomes much more resource intensive than "Last Post Read" + "Unread Topics" mechanics which are currently used. I missed that when making the suggestion

Still, a good discussion IMHO

Perhaps a simple but effective workaround is to bold a page number that has unread posts.

I.e.

Always View Latest 15 posts...
1 2 3 4

After opening page 4:

Always View Latest 15 posts...
1 2 3 4

Shows a missed/unread post on page 3.

This should be an effective, non-distractive indicator of unread posts. However, implementing it may or may not be feasible, I dunno

Possible problem is that the numbers seem to be bold already...

Recently purchased this to fill my type set...

Netherlands East Indies 1/10 Gulden 1900, KM# 304.2

Took a close look and found some doubling. But MD's don't make doubled serifs, do they?

Looking to find out if it's DD, just for the cool factor

@TheBurnz according to the Univ. of T website, the tuition fee is around $6000 for domestic students and $46000 for international students. Not sure if they are total or annual fees though, still way too expensive

I am curious, is there any way to increase your chances on the scholarship?

We wrote 4 essays as an application for the scholarship so they are the most determining factor. The selection staff may or may not look at the documents submitted for the university admission though, not sure as admission & scholarship are 2 different processes.

Hello! I just got admitted for undergraduate Life Science course in University of Toronto

However, I'm still waiting for a scholarship, without which I would be unable to afford the fees required for the study. Around 37 recepients of the scholarship will be announced on April so it's still uncertain until then.

I'm very excited about the possibility of studying there and getting closer to most of the members in this forum. No more super-expensive shipping

If I don't get the scholarship, though, I have no choice than to reject the offer and enroll in a local university in my hometown due to financial reasons. It's at least 12 times cheaper here...

We'll see how it goes on April
