Posted the above topic eight years ago. Wondering if there have been any good updates/releases of collecting software/categorization besides Excell that exist?

Wow... eight years

I didn't mean to bump this to the top; was just looking back through old posts.

I'm 23 now. Still loving the hobby :)

Holy...

larsjan I cannot say how envious and PROUD I am of you. Not only did you push through thick and thin over these past four years, and through some seemingly endless moments of waiting, you acquired a piece of HISTORY!

Reading this thread was a roller coaster. Thank you to all who supported larsjan through his waiting, and I cannot WAIT to see this piece find a rightful place in the history book, maybe, someday, a museum.

Congrats again. If I am even 1% as lucky as you in this hobby, it'd have been worth it :)

As the title says. Just feel like it's near-impossible now. I remember 10 years ago, I would occasionally find a Mercury Dime or Indian Head Penny, but now, nothing. It's wishful thinking, but it would be nice to come across something good again.

Stop hoarding them from me ;)

All but two look to be about near-MS if not UNC.

I'm super excited to add these to my collection. I just found them in the register at work and exchanged them for a few bills with my boss. I feel so lucky working at a cash-only place. Typically, I'll find a Kennedy here and there, but this many silver dimes is pretty cool!

What are your favorite work finds?

how did you end up finding it with so little to go on?

Numista I think is the best catalog for coins, they have tons of information on basically every coin that I know of, including size, weight, shape, material, etc.

I just weighed and measured the coin, put those values into their advanced search feature, and scrolled through about 17 pages to find it! Haha!

Not planning on selling, obviously, just wanted to know this coin's origin. It's very weathered, and the only form of identification I found was a very faint bust outline. Thanks in advance. Pictures in order are obverse, reverse, obverse detail, size comparison.

Year 59 (1970)

Has the casing a hole? could be a key chain?

OMG thanks! And yes pretty sure it is a keychain hole, or someone dried to open the casing with a drill. Glad to know this coin is safe from pretty much anything.

Hi! My grandfather gave me this Asian coin and I haven't been able to identify it's origin. It is in a very hard, practically indestructible casing that can't be removed (as you can see the casing has been damaged, but the coin appears to be in great condition.

Any help is welcome.

Just wondering. I want to know if it's worth spending like $20 on a roll on quarters, or other rolls. What's the chance of me finding a coin actually worth keeping (like standing liberty quarters, mercury dimes, any silver coins, etc)?

Just want to know.

Thanks.

(P.S. I haven't ever hunted before so I'm new to this).

Bought this for $30 a while ago from a coin store. Just wanted to know what you think. I've looked it up and apparently this is worth a few thousand, but I don't know if that is true.
