Basically all that moves, lives and/or makes sound in the house. Somehow I've had a pile of coins to put in albums laying on a talbe in the living room now for a few weeks and somehow the world decided that the right time to grade them and put them in albums hasn't come yet... |

Not sure why Philharmonikers should do much over spot in the US actually. Here they go for about the same price as your average bars: just over spot. I recently picked up a pile of silver ones for under spot, even... And I fully agree that I like watching a bullion coin much more than a bullion bar, actually.
Also consider some other foreign bullion coins. That's usually less wanted in the US and thus sells more often for spot than the Buffalo you mentioned.
For my gold, most of it is 'classic' coinage. None of it shows spots. My silver, on the other hand... everything by the RCM has spots.

@Carrigna: Thanks, but as Spruett bought coins, I of course left out all the information on bank notes.
When it comes to Latvia: unless you have a large bulk of them or a Latvian passport, it's a painstakingly slow and bureaucratic process not worth your time, if you can even get it done. Source: first hand experience.
UK: A big fat 'demonetized' is stamped on old currency. I've had a bunch of old coins with me and I haven't found a single place where I still could exchange them. That includes banks, exchange offices, etc. So it's a fairly simple situation in practice. Source: first hand experience.
Ireland might be true, but again, bank notes are usually much easier than coins (with the exception of Germany and Austria). I have no first hand experience here. I just steer on the information that's available to me.
Spain also causes a small obstacle with having to show up in person. So in practice, unless you have thousands of euros in coins (but then explain that to customs and security) it's not worth a trip.
The problem with the French, Dutch, Belgian and Luxembourgian coins isn't that they have no monetary value (honestly, does it matter if a coin has monetary value for collecting purposes?), but also that still millions of them are around. These coins sell for scrap value by the kilogram. Source: I bought a few kilogram of them for next to nothing.
@swollibman: just start your own topic. One topic per subject, I think, is best. |

I agree with what X2an writes. 10 kronor coins haven't been minted for almost a decade, so getting any in uncirculated state is getting tougher. If you can get a set then that's a good solution. For the individual coin, Tradera (Swedish) or Finn (Norwegian) or catawiki (European) might be of help. with the latter you have to look for 'shops' which are hidden somewhere deep down inside the site. All will come with postage, though, so finding a local coin shop and go for a set might turn out cheaper.
Glad you like the information about Norway and our supermarkets too. I hope it doesn't discourage you from having an interest in our country here! |

Nice coin! Keep it safe, as it's in a wonderful condition and there aren't many of them anymore...
Quote: Just try and get a worn-out Morgan for spot or even close to spot.
That's what I do in Europe all the time. Morgan and Peace dollars for spot. Interbellum Baltic coins, on the other hand... |

Too bad that there weren't any coins this time. Better luck next time!
Also, good news that the cat's ok! |

Quote: @UltraRant Out of curiosity, what is the 'online European source', if I might ask?
For Norway, it's Finn, for Sweden, it's Tradera, for The Netherlands, it's Marktplaats, for Germany, it's MA-Shops, also catawiki shops in general in Europe. |

It would be really helpful if you can upload a few pics so that we can see the coin. Both obverse and reverse please.
I haven't heard about this coin being an often counterfeited one, honestly.
Spruett: that's actually quite much given the population of Aruba. |
