I thought it was Chinese at first, but this is actually a Vietnamese cash coin from 1788-1792.

Hi!

I made my account a long time ago and misspelled the username, so I don't really like it anymore.

I'd like the username Easter, I don't think it's taken yet.

For an avatar, I'd like it to be this coin.

Thanks!

Is This Damage Or A Mint Error On The 2021 $20 Grey Wolf Coin?

I bought this coin from a re-seller since they sold out so long ago.

I love the design, but noticed some yellow specks in the rhodium plated fields and on the rim. I'm not sure whether this is blatant damage and I should return it, or some kind of mint error. I'm only thinking it's a plating error because when held under some light, those fields look pretty smooth and it doesn't look like conventional scratching. Then again, this isn't a conventional coin.

I paid $250 for it, which would've been enough in hindsight to get one that was already graded by NGC at PF69. No clue how this one would grade though, what are your thoughts? Should I keep or return? Thanks

Looks like a 1 cash coin of Qianlong (Ch'ien -Lung) made between 1736 and 1800 in the Boo-yuwan mint (Board of Works, Beijing).
KM# 390/KM# 391

There are many varieties of this coin because it was minted for so long. You can identify the specific variety and a specific time period by examining the calligraphy.

It is almost guaranteed to be real, because these coins are common and counterfeiters would not go to such an extent to make a convincing fake of this coin.

Saw this on eBay for a pretty reasonable price, want to buy it but not 100% sure it's real.

Description says it's a 1 mace and 4.4 candareens coin of the Xuantong Emperor made between 1909 and 1911 in Guangdong province.

I've searched for other pictures of the coin, and I don't see any
signs of being fake.

I'm not really sure, any thoughts or opinions please share.

Thanks!

Apologies for the blurry picture, it was the only other image included in the listing.

Yeah, it's very mangled and damaged.

The only reason I'm considering purchasing this is for the price.

According to all the websites I've checked, it has a mintage of 16,580. The coin was obviously mounted before, but I think the details look pretty nice.

Should I bid, or spend my money on something else?

There seems to be a white coloured 1974-D penny in this eBay listing.

Do you guys think it's an aluminum one, or a plated one?

Yeah, I saw that Edward VIII coin too. Not that rare, but I think it'll get decent demand.

Yes I see it, it's quite common for 17-19th Century coins to not be perfectly round.

I think it's because they used casts instead of cutting out planchets today. Doesn't look like damage to me.

Probably environmental damage to me.
U.S. nickels do have more copper in them than nickel, though.

This eBay seller was selling world coin lots for $8.33 plus shipping. He had multiple lots, and I chose this one. It has a half-dime in the picture, with an O mint mark.

Was it worth it? All the earlier half-dimes are around $20 catalog value in G

I don't think the half-dime is dateless, I can faintly see what looks like 1857.

More information:
Since it's not magnetic, It might be bronze or copper beneath the gold plating.

It's definitely not a coin made by a government. It's probably made by a company in China. I see lots of these gold-plated coins selling for under $2 on eBay. Usually they depict the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. Not very rare, since these are mass produced, but good for a present, or display, I guess.

So it could be a coin, token, or medallion, whatever you want to call it, but it's not made by the government, it's made by a manufacturer. I think you could pick something like this up at a Chinese souvenir store.

I would keep it in it's packaging.
The coin is definitely gold plated.

It's really hard to find out who made this coin, there are millions of zodiac coin makers in China.

They changed the font in 2010. I haven't come across any small 6's.
Yes, if you compare it to a 2006 nickel, it looks really different.

I don;t think there are small sixes, considering technology can make millions of dies that look the same.
