I have thought that I have had some coins undergrated when sent to Anacs. I had a thought that when a nicer coin was sent in for grading at one of the lower costs they were graded lower..
I have looked for pictures that have a date this close, But I have not seen one this close of date. I know the pictures suck but I will try to do better next time.. Does this look like a known vam?
Just looking on ebayand seen this... https://www.ebay.com/itm/266154802561 It is listed as a 7 over 8 TF and by the picture it looks like it is. How can it be graded by NGC as a 8TF?
I don't know much about Indian Heads but something just don't look right to me on the 1863. Looks too boldly struck and the 1 in the date is almost touching the neck. I looked at coinfacts and no dates looked that close. I have seen some nice looking indian heads made in China.
The grading has changed for all these grading services. In the early days of Anacs I sent a 1886O morgan. It came back a MS60. Kept it for many years then sent it to PCGS, came back MS62 .. I have a 1889CC morgan, I sent to NGC, came back details, then sent it to PCGS, came back F15, no details.I have sent over 50 coins to Anacs in the past few years and I think they are tough, maybe even tougher than the other two. One of the nicest morgans I have is in a SEGS holder.
