Typo above. Majority thought the gap between BCS & PMG was 3 grades (Moderators, I'm unable to edit post).

And the answer is....

Option # 3 BCS 64, CCCS 64, PMG 65 !!!

Congrats to the one person who got it.

Interesting fact about this particular poll, in general,
1) Most of you thought that BCS graded this more conservatively than CCCS
2) And that the gap between BCS's grade and PMG's grade was by 4 grade points! (and I'm sure you have examples where there was such a gap). But not in this case.

1) BCS64

2) CCCS64

3) PMG65

Thanks again for everyone's participation in the poll!

Apologies for the late response.Life got in the way!

The results is : Option 3 - [BCS & CCCS = Same Grade] + [PMG & Legacy = Same Grade]
Difference of 2 points

Congrats to the 27% of you that answered this correctly!

In this particular grading example, Steve & Louis graded the same. I'm sure many of you have examples where they didn't grade the same, and that's fine. I was actually surprised to see that CCCS & BCS didn't grade this as a GEM. Even with my 15+ years of currency collecting, I am in no means an expert grader, however, from the best I can tell, there are no visible demerits I can see in this bill that disqualify it from a GEM 65 grade.

Again, I understand that it's hard to grade a bill from a picture, yet IMO this one was clearly a GEM, for whatever its worth.

thanks DBM & Jbuck. Purpose is not as much to grade the bill but rather to get a sense of how YOU perceive the TPGs compare with each other in respect to their grading standards :)

Hi everyone. I thought this could be both an informative and collaborative activity. This same exact bill has been graded by the following 3 TPGs. Purpose is not to grade the bill (its already been graded) but rather to get a sense of how YOU perceive the TPGs compare with each other in respect to their grading standards. You might be surprised (or not) :)

The Game: COMPARE THE GRADERS.

You have a 25% chance of selecting the correct answer.
One of the 4x options IS the correct answer!
Every option has at least one correct grade!
Winner(s) get bragging rights only
I will post the correct answer with pictures in 7 days

Put a magnet to that 2001 loonie and you'll see that its not silver. Very nice proof loonie though!

Did someone say "how about some pics"?

Here are two coins, taken directly from the Coin holders. Both certified at SP-67
1989 & 1990

This has happened to proof coins as well, from 1989 to 1991
Certainly looks like some chemical reaction between the plastic and the coating on the coins.

Just found out today about his passing as I am looking to buy silver ounce bars.
I spent many days with Bill at his store when I lived in Langley. Loved his stories and he would give me great deals. I loved his one-liners "If you believed that story, I have a bridge to sell you in the back".

I never got tired of his jokes, even though I heard the same ones over and over :)

Very sad to hear about his passing. My condolences to the family. He would speak about his wife and children constantly and loved them dearly.

Went to an RBC branch yesterday and said they haven't gotten any but that many people have been asking for them. I have seen rolls and purchased a roll myself from an LCS but they had a very limited inventory. I have also reached out to many LCSs and sellers with no luck. There was a batch released in Quebec as most of the eBay sellers that got their hands on rolls are based around the Montreal area.

Welcome Kevin. We were all new to the Canadian coin numismatics at some point.

Feel free to upload some pics at your discretion or give us a list of some of the coins that are of particular interest to you. We can all chime in.

All the best

Anyone see these in circulation yet?

Seems to be a lot of chatter about whether there will be rolls or not.

Reminds me of the "supposed" low mintage rolls of the 2016 loonies...I now have a stack full of those 2016 rolls :)

This article says 2 million coloured coins will enter into circulation:

https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/ro...0000159.html

Quote:
Two million coloured coins, with a red maple leaf and olive branches in the same shade of blue as the United Nations flag, are entering circulation today. There is also an uncoloured version limited to one million coins. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt in 2003.

I also started my Canadian paper collection when someone gave me a free 1973 dollar bill. It was used and worth a buck, but started me down a truly enjoyable hobby.

Your 1954 $1 dollar bill may be a nice start. Looks like a circulated EF 40 bill with 3 vertical folds and some corner wear.

Enjoy
