My gift arrived today! It's a proof 1961 and a 1955 UNC Franklin half dollar with 1978 Whitman's Franklin Half album! I'm very very happy! Thank you so much, Santa!

I must say I was looking for a US coins related project for some time now and Franklin halves were at the top of my list, so this gift really hit the bull's eye! |

It's always fun to find euro coins of micro states. I've been collecting for 4 years now, and this is the sencond 2€ San Marino coin I ever saw in circulation.

In last year I've started collecting pre- 1945 postcards of my home village. Great thing (or worst thing - it depends on personality of the collector) about theme postcards is that you'll never know how complete your collection is. |

Found this San Marino 2002 20 cents in circulation few days ago. Sorry for bad picture, but my camera only makes decent photos on natural lightning - and we don't get much of it these months.

My top buy was about 150 € for a coin (gold). However my comfort zone lies around 40 €. Anything above it, I really think it through. And there's the metal factor: for some reason, I hesitate to pay, let's say 20 € for a copper coin, but 40 € for a silver one seems totally normal to me. |

Actually, Dansco 7070 was my first choice when I started to collect US coins. However the album itself was expensive at the time, not to mention certain coins. Whitman's 20th and 21st century album provided just what I wanted and needed. Even still, most of my US coin interests lie in early 20th century. Also, US coin albums such as Dansco ro Whitman are super hard to come by in Europe and out of principle I won't pay more for postage than for actual album (or coin). I don't find rotating such a big a problem, and after all, this is not a high end collection. Many of the coins were traded (all Barber coins, SLQ, all cents expect Indian head and Shield ...) and I think most I spent on a single coin was 40 € for Peace dollar. |
