I received my amazing gift from my secret Santa.

A complete president dollar set, and a cool US Mint Ornament from 2000.

Hanging on my tree.

Thanks Santa

Still on my desk...waiting for that first brave soul to start the trades rolling in.

Basically you get this wonderful wooden nickel for the cost of your postage, and some coin that has been in your junk drawer for years that you have no plans for...but not worth selling on ebay. I can't be the only one that has some of those.

PM me with what you would like to offer if you want to take part.

Anyone interested in a wooden nickel from the "Untied States"...seems to get more untied every day.

This example Looks to have a mint error on the second s in states...or maybe it is post mint damage. Never cleaned and appears to be a rotated die

Will trade for any numismatic item...and you get the bragging rights of being part of the first trade. PM me with anything you got collecting dust in that junk box

You therefore must be unfamiliar with eBay's "ungraded coin" policy.

I was unfamiliar with that too. EBay canceled my listing, using the replica/counterfeit policy, which caused my confusion. I think if the grading policy was mentioned and linked... I would not have started a topic, I would have read the rule I was unfamiliar with and made the appropriate adjustments.

hopefully all in order now.

Thanks for all the advice.

I re-listed as uncertified, blacked out the grade on the picture and made no mention of any grade or grading company. I listed it for $5 opening bid and don't expect much. Maybe I'll have to drop the price to melt value next week.

When I say it seems silly, it is that EBay is so concerned with this low value coin that is real, just not in an acceptable slab, yet real raw fakes are still being bid on. I assume they have bots that found the mention of SEGS or did someone report the listing? Who knows. Not a graded coin guy for the most part, so I didn't realize SEGS was such a pariah in the numismatic world.

I learned something today, so that is a success.

Thanks again for everyone's input.

1963 Roosevelt Dime Graded By SEGS Light Cameo Double Die Reverse DDR FS-017...was the title.

Is it that they don't trust SEGS? Not sure why it was flagged and removed ...this was given as a trade to me...any thoughts?

Reboots are all the rage on TV...So I thought why not start a new "Red paperclip/wooden nickel" trade.

The rules are mostly from lessons learned from the last go round:

Send your trade offer by PM, I like to post the new trade available as a big reveal when it is actually received.

I will select the trade I like best.

I will not send out the outgoing trade to you, until I receive your trade. My last go round had a negative hiccup...so unfortunately this rule is necessary.

I am going to limit it to a 1 for 1 numismatic trade...having multiple coins come in for one coin makes it a little too complicated to take pictures and set up the next trade.

The goal is to see how long the trade can keep going...and each time trading for something better...this is for entertainment, will cost me $$ in postage, and is not intended for anything but interaction with others on this board and having a little fun. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Trade #1 - A Wooden Nickel Of Course - pictures to follow.

The Cheerio cent still sells at a premium for some reason.

I agree that it is just an uncirculated cent, and doesn't have the rarity of the dollar that ended up being a variation. That is why the implication that it was opened and resealed even more outlandish.

idk...just annoyed by a silly small dollar transaction return. The kind that after postage is refunded, costs you money.

Thanks for letting me vent.

So I sold a 2000 Cheerios cent on ebay in January that I had in my collection for over two decades. Sent and received by the buyer on Jan 15th.

Yesterday, buyer gives me positive feedback...but it says "I got what I paid for"

Then the buyer requests a refund...stating that the cent was defective.

Claims that I removed the cent and resealed on the original card with a new different piece of plastic. I guess he thought I really wanted that 2000 Cheerio cent...and replaced it with a mint state replacement 2000 cent.

And with Ebay, I had no choice but to agree to the return.

I normally don't have many problems, but really...defective...Ok off my soap box

I also sent a gift to a "far away place"

I hope that Molydeii's mailbox eventually overflows with gifts from Christmas Past...however as long as one made it, we will celebrate.

I saw your thread while looking around in the forum...and thought.....

I should have seen if you wanted to buy the masonic counterstamp I just sold on ebay before I offered it there.

And then I realized you bought it from me on ebay.

Looking forward to seeing that one added to your thread by the end of the week.

Back in the 80s, I used to be a paper boy for the Detroit News. I was in about 4th grade, and a customer or two would pay in a foreign coin when they were short for the week.

One of them paid me in a 1986 $100 golden colored peso coin from Mexico. I thought I was rich...not so much

Another gave me a 1916 10 centimes coin from France. I kept both for years...and not until I got older did I realize that this one was better than a dime, since it was silver.

At that age, I caught a little bit of the bug...and I went into a coin and comic store and overpaid for a steel penny and a common mercury dime. They were my prized possessions.

So the customers accidentally gave me the bug...but after hearing I liked coins, a great uncle of mine gave me his old collection. Nothing crazy...A Peace Dollar, a Morgan, a Liberty nickel and some others all glued to piece of card board. But that is when the hobby stuck with me.

Pun Intended

Ken
