This is a very tragic event, for not only the one's affected directly. But all american's. Many of us devote our live's to preserving our way of life. And somehow think because we are American's that bad thing's don't ever happen to us. And if they do. Then of course our our patriotism, and our tax $, will have purchased relief, and help in a time of need. I am ashamed of our leadership for waiting until the media, had to point out the lack of interest, and relief in this time of need. I am also ashamed of them for letting the oil industry take advantage of us. Many good citizen's would be happy to do more donation wise. But everyone is worried about the gas price's and the impact it will have on the day to day item's. I dread seeing the insurance company's tell most of these people. That although they paid their policy. They will not receive what is due without a fight. There is no doubt it will happen, and no doubt , that our leadership will allow them to do it. I am usually a supporter of our nation's leadership. Because I believe in it's citizen's , no matter who is in charge. But we are in a very strange time. I wonder if we can endure the damage that has been done. I wonder should american's be withdrawing their saving's and investing in more tangible asset's(i.e gold, or platinum.) thing's that have global value. I have thousand's of banknote's from bankrupt and overrun nation's. All of them together can be considered worthless. I am hoping it's not quite this serious, however I must say. Our leadership has brought our nation to it's knee's. They have lied to us, and sent us into war's that has crippled our credibilty on a global scale. Now with disaster on our hand's. American's have a good deal to worry about. Sorry for the long message but. Maybe it's time to start collecting only precious metal item's. You never know what could happen. I would not want to be left with my life saving's adding up to no purchasing power. This is just something I thought I would share with you fine folk's. Beacause you have the advantage when it come's to purchacing precious metal's. You already know how it's done. |

After giving some thought, I believe they will seek it out on their own, In good time. When we were all younger, we all had different taste, and with all the opportunity for other interest, somehow we ended up collecting one way or another. I believe this is the way it has laway's been. They will get older and life will leave them with a hunger to have a hobby. Coin collecting is the most popular, so it will have to cross their mind. |

I look at these as well for lot's of thing's. I have an old sear's catalog, and evrything is so cheap, However the point I wanted to make earlier was that although the coin's were cheaper, If you were to compare the price of inflation verse's other product's and the ave wage for the time. These actually took a larger chunk of expendible income, than they do now. The internet has really brought more of these item's out of private holding's, and into the marketplace. therefore they are not so scarce as it once seemed. |

I just wanted to comment on autria coin's. Austria is known for almost nothing in world history. But one thing they should be known for is great coin's. The older kreuzer's of ludwig and Leopold, are some of the best designed coin's ever. In fact most of these early edition's are much nicer than the post 1800 style's. Although early American coin's are very well designed. Those from Austria and Germany are some of the nicest classic's I have ever seen |

I must say that I am also amazed by the coin's of the canadian mint. The hologram's are some of the coolest coin's evr minted. Although the US mint is trying to come out with some new design's. I feel they are league's away from most of Europe, as far as fresh desin's. We seem to want to rehash the same old style's. |

I think this happen's to everyone. I used to have a very tidy collection. But something come's along and it become's the new desire. So I start that serie's or whatever. I guess it make's sense. Collecting is a passion hobby. Just like people's interest change year after year, about food, relationship's ect. We get tire'd of the same old routine coin's. and look for some action, so to speak |

I don't see how people get taken in by some of these. I have seen many, and they do not really look real anyway. Unlike the trade $1 reproduction, that is pretty darn good. The Bust has feature's that are much more distorted. Alway's rely on weight if in question. |

The premuim way to get educated is to ask a lot of question's. Many educated coin people, will be more than willing to help in any way. Coinworld magazine is also a great resource. If you read every month, cover to cover. You will learn a whole lot |
