I just found a 1/10 oz. silver walking liberty while searching through some cents from the back. Yours is a different design, but I don't know much about them. Does anyone know if there are different designs out there?

I used to be pretty active on here, but took a step back from coin collecting for a while. I've always looked at my pocket change and held on to a few things, but stopped roll hunting like I used to.

My grandpa who got me interested in coin collecting passed away a year ago and I picked up some half dollars sort of to pay homage to those good memories. Well now I'm hooked again and ready to dive back in!

I collect a bit of everything: US coins and notes, World coins and notes, tokens, rolled cents, counter stamped coins, etc. I'm looking forward to catching up my coin books and finding some treasures!

I have several of the blue whitman coin books (with the plastic slides not the folders), but I've hit the end of the date ranges. When this happens do you just buy new books or do you like to add pages? I've considered moving over to the undated brown folders and just marking it myself. Just wanted to get some ideas of the options here first. Maybe someone has something that hasn't occurred to me yet.

While we're on the subject, where have you found has the best prices on books/pages?

I took a bit of a hiatus from coin collecting but I'm back! My grandpa (who got me into coin collecting)passed away a year ago on the 21st. We used to talk a lot about coins and I got the itch again.

I went to a new bank and got my first ever bag of coins (I've only done boxes prior to this). Within the first 15 minutes, I hit silver (yes in a penny bag)! I found a 1/10th oz silver bullion. Only with a few bucks but it's always fun to find silver. I also found 7 Wheaties (42S, 44, 53D, 56D x3, 57D) and a few Canadian cents. They're a few upgrades for my books too, but those are the highlights.

So about a year ago I started thinking that I seemed to find quite a bit of change on the ground. I wondered how much change I would find in a year.

So, on July 1, 2010 I started putting any money I found into an old pasta sauce jar. I also made a rule. If I saw a coin on the ground, no matter how small or out of the way, I had to go pick it up.

Well, it's one year later and here are the results:

(I should also mention that the paper bills were turned into a lost and found for two weeks (where no one claimed them) before they came home with me.)

As to the poll question, I was just wondering what the rest of you do when you see money on the ground. Is it worth picking up?

Thanks for sharing your pictures! Mahal ko po ang mga coin at currency ng Pilipinas! I actually just got back from another visit to the Philippines last week.

I would stick to the acetone too. Calamansi juice is acidic and probably isn't the best thing to be using on your coins.

Sometimes I get in a hurry and just stash my bills in my wallet. I was trying to organize them a little better and I found this guy sitting around:
