Thanks for getting back to me, so far I'm starting to lean towards it being real. It is non-magnetic (this eliminates some fakes but not conclusive). It is from the estate of a once very wealthy well traveled 90 something year old women. She traveled a great deal before WW2 before their family lost a great deal during the bombings of London (This too eliminates some possibilities of it being fake). I am currently communicating with CNG, they have requested better pictures with the preliminary belief that it could be authentic. This again adds some hope that it is the real thing.
I am just the holder of the coin for a short time, a friend that is handling the estate has asked me to find out all I can on it, I had never heard of them until this event, hence here I am before the combined knowledge of the Community. It will be possibly a few days but I'll get some better pictures posted.
thanks with respect,
Liverpool

Greetings all,

It's been a while since I've been to the community, it's nice to be back. Here are a couple of pictures from one that a friend of mine is taking care of.
I would be grateful for your input and comments.

I've just recently picked up what I believe is a civil war token, its in pretty rough shape.
Were there many of these? (not issue but different "coins" from different............)
Who made them, merchants? local governments?

thanks in advance.

I am a huge fan of Newfoundland half dollars, I know we are on the USA form so my next pick would be Morgans, if Peace dollars were struck better they would be my top choice easily.

My latest thing has been attempts to purchase platinum jewelry on eBay. So far I have had limited success. So far I've bought two rings. One ring is a little over 8 grams with very small stones, it's a nice lump of metal. The second ring had too pretty of a stone in it....I'm not allowed to keep it, my wife wants it

Not sure ir it is a good move or not, maybe hard to move but hey I'm enjoying myself.

cheers

It comes down to when you need the cash, there is a different investment that I'm looking at right now so I may end up selling off bullion and coins any time now. It's hard but in the end this is why I bought the silver in the 1st place. With care I've put away a little to take advantage of the next opportunity. The where....hmmm I'm in a smaller town so that mostly limits me to eBay. I've had some limited success on KIJIJI but you always end up with people wasting your time.
