Now there are gilded high relief Elephants dated 2013 and 2014.

I don't remember seeing anything about a gilded high relief coin in 2013. Did they release these after 2013?

The coin has a COA and is boxed the same as the original issue 2013 high relief. Mintage of 500.
Does that mean they sold 1000 regular high reliefs and then another 500 gilded high reliefs?

What's next? 500 colored 2013 high relief elephants? Then maybe 500 day and 500 night 2013 high relief colored elephants.

This series is becoming a joke.

Now they are colorizing coins from back years as well. There is a new color scheme for the 2012 Somali Elephants. I wouldn't be surprised if they have produced more of the 2012s with the original color scheme as well.

They could actually create a new color scheme for each coin every year. So we would have the 2012 coin with the 2014 color scheme, and then we would get the 2012 coin with 2015 color scheme, etc.

Same with the gilded.

I think I'm done with the elephants.

"Please note the this coin is colorized by a third party experienced company."

So it seems this third party company has copied the color scheme from the original day coin from the 2-coin day/night set. That day coin (with the orange sky) was exclusive to the set and there were only 500 sets issued.

It looks like they've come up with some new color schemes. And they also add gilding and holograms to coins.

I assume this will destroy the value of colorized coins, because they could just as well start colorizing and gilding back dated Somali and Zambia elephants to look like the original mint issued products.

And what's to stop them from copying Canadian and Australian colorized coins?

Well, if the new colored coin is an official mint product, then I am not going to continue buying any new issues. Three colorized elephants in one year is silly and the quality of the coins is spotty at best.

With seven months left in the year I wonder how many more 2014 elephant products they can come up with.

Is the new 2014 colorized elephant showing up on eBay an official release? It is similar to the previously issued day colorized coin but with a blue sky instead of orange. And did they release more of the orange sky day coins (previously available only in the two coin set)? The mintage on those must be higher now.

Pennies aren't worth twice their value. They are brass, which is valued much less than bare bright copper.

Copper is not precious at all. It's used in pipes and stuff, afterall. It's cheap.

That said, I have hundreds of pounds of the stuff. If you can get it well below spot and you have space, by all means hoard it.

There is no customs or duty on coins.

I've ordered from RCM, the only other fee besides shipping is the currency exchange on your credit card.

Gatewest offers low shipping ($5) and the transaction is done in US dollars. And they often sell for less than the issue price.

Emporium Hamburg had a booth at the FUN Show in Orlando last week.
They had a pretty good selection of elephants. I forget what year they went back to on the regular issues, but they also had colorized versions from 2012 and 2013 as well as some of the fractional gold coins.

Can anyone help me with a few answers?
Is parking free?
What time do I need to be there to get in quickly without early bird?
Will there be any ccf medals at the show (I didn't order one originally and have regretted it)?
Is there a concession stand inside?
Thanks

There is a fee for parking at the convention center.

The doors open to the public at 10am. You can get there a few minutes beforehand, pick up a name tag, and then join the crowd rushing the door.

There is a cafeteria.

I don't understand the complaints. They put out a lot of different coins, and you are free to select the ones you want. When I buy something I never get upset that there are too many choices.

And besides that, if you you are the guys buying all the cheesy stuff they are putting out then you are the enablers.

I find it hard to believe that any proof 69 coin would have any spots on it. Perhaps it was the pictures or something on the slab itself and not on the coin.

It is very common for Silver Eagles to develop spots regardless of grade. Spots can and do happen even on PR70 Eagles.

When using an online auction, you need to examine the photos carefully to detect spots and ask the seller before buying.

The UZI is the clear choice in my opinion. You make a big splash with it.

However, I don't like the idea. It's too Franklin Mintish. I think it needs a message people can identify with. Otherwise it is just a commemorative piece. Guns are popular now, so you should be bale to sell some.

I just started collecting elephants this month. So far I only have some 2011s and 2013s, plus several high relief 2013 on the way (these look great in the photos).

I ordered a set in the last hour of the final day.
When I initially ordered it gave an estimated ship date in Sept.
Since then, the shipping date has changed, but we all know by now there is a glitch in their system, so I'm not too disappointed that the shipping date has passed. The Mint is still on schedule according to the initial estimates.

Why do you guys believe some anonymous internet poster over the US Mint? You really think they had decided to open a second window?
