Starting to think mine didn't make it. Europe usually doesn't take this long.

Finally had a minute to scan my gift. A very pretty 1974-S Eisenhower Dollar. This is better than the one in my 7070 album so it will be replacing it! Thank You Secret Santa!

I was sent these by an individual asking what they are worth. I am certainly no expert in bonds, but considering the rarity of authentic bonds from these 2 sources, I am of the opinion that these are most likely copies. Anyone have any information on these items. The pic is the best I can do since that is what was sent to me.

Confederate 500 Note For Your Thoughts

I would be careful about this note. "Confederate States Paper Money" by G. Cuhaj shows examples of this note both authentic and a Cuban contemporary counter-feit. It lists authentic plate letters as A to D and the counter-feit with plate letters WA-ZA. There is nothing I can see that indicates this is a contemporary counterfeit but the difference in value is approx. 7x more for authentic than the Cuban counter-feit.
Authentic notes had a printing of 150,428 and the Cuban counter-feit of 1,671,444.

The General was a train stolen by Union soldiers early in the Civil War and chased down by its Conductor, among others, aboard a sister train named the Texas. The Union soldiers that made the attempt were the first recipients of the Medal of Honor. I do a lecture on the whole story and have one of only 3 complete series/denomination sets of the Western and Atlantic change notes. My avatar is one of those notes.

Those 4-4-0 trains were a workhorse of the South. This is "The General" in completely restored condition and on display in Kennesaw GA, at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History.

I knew if I was patient, the package still had a chance. It was mailed on 12 Dec. so its been traveling for a while! Nice to hear it made it. Its always been more important to give something than to get. I had no idea that Molydeii had never received anything. It was just another CCF Christmas gift to send. Merry Christmas, especially Molydeii (he's gonna need it I think) and to the whole forum. I'm already looking forward to 2023!

A few of the things I collect might have some of that energy IF! I believed in that stuff. I have a half dozen varieties of manillas ("slave bracelets'), Operation Bernhard notes created by the Nazi SS and printed by concentration camp inmates, various primitive pieces used for bride purchases, leper colony tokens and, of course, animal hides and fur used for early trading. I don't believe that inanimate objects carry energies good or bad, so I hold them as objects that were touched by good, or bad, as a lesson and a reminder of history.

For US notes there is an out-of-print pamphlet of odd US denominations. Mostly broken banks. The pamphlet is 32 pages long with around 75-100 notes in denominations from 5 Mills (5/100ths of a cent) to a $3000 note from Morris Canal and Banking. Let me know if you want anything specific posted from the pamphlet.

Thanks go to my Secret Santa! You almost read my mind! After 4 years in Japan including numerous trips to Sasebo and 3 years in the Philippines I have been slowly collecting things from there. And the tobacco tag is somethig I've never seen before!
I brought back a large number of 5 centavo pieces (value: 350=$1) but spent them all when I discovered they were the same size as a nickel and worked great in the barracks beer machine!
Thanks for my gift!

A few moments ago I reported that I had received. I was incorrect. It was another package and I didn't recognize the address, so I assumed! And you know what that means...Oops!

Here is one of the reasons we are lucky enough to have the variety of fractional today. This is a counterfeit of an FR-1317. Fractional currency was widely, and quickly, counterfeited.
