silver below 20? hopefully that never happens. I'm still one of those believer that that think we will eventually see 50 dollar silver again, sooner rather than later, with maybe a year or 2

So when I originally posted, on september first, the price was $,31.74, however we saw strides to 35$, and now on october 17th we are down to $33.15

Whats going on?
Why the sudden raise? why the drastic increase from 27 dollars to 35 within about 2 monthes, and now a drop. Any speculation?
And Whats your opinion? Does it keep going down?

-my opinion, is that it is heading into the toilet, which may be in the high twenties, sadly :( I hope I'm wrong

Regardless of what someone things a PM will do 2k a coin prices the majority of people out of it. Its a shame too they are a nice coin, but no where near 2k nice.

they said that too when gold hit 1300, that an ounce is not worth it for that price. I feel that people will always be willing to buy, as long as the price of gold is at a certain price. Hypothetically if gold was 10,000 an ounce, our economy is probably f'ed up, but there will always be people who can afford a gold coin for the price of gold.

When the SHTF, dollar bills or any paper money would be worthless to almost worthless I would think, (or super highly inflated, bottle of water for 50,000$?) just a guess. I believe that precious metals would have a higher chance of being useful in a SHTF situation, but honestly, in that situation, your best investment is CANNED FOOD.
-that being said, I don't believe that the **** is going to hit the fan any time soon, and that our green backs will remain pretty useful for years to come. my dollar will for the rest of my life allow me to purchase goods, and silver/gold will never allow me to do such (unless I exchange for money)
-that being said, why do I own silver/gold? because I feel like it is better than having the money sit in a bank for 20 years+, I love playing with it, and making silver forts, and its my money and I could do whatever I want with it. (sorry for sounding ignorant :) haha)

A bar's value is what someone is willing to pay for it. If someone is willing to pay 150-200 dollars, than that is its value. Try listing it on ebay

Unless youre talking about an online site its really impossible to answer. Every store will have a different price structure/interest level/owner.

Im looking for brick and mortar coin stores, and although each store would be a different case, I'm looking for experiences of people who sold precious metals and old coins to coin shops, and what their experience was like.

a small percentage? still seems significant. but then again I don't think more than 1% of households in the next 10 years will hold more than 1 ounce of silver....something else perhaps to consider
-thats just an estimate on my part though, I don't have any statistics on hand, but I know hundreds of people, and I am the only bullion stacker

If delivery was necessary for all the paper trading of silver, and it forced every ounce of silver to be delivered to some residence or from one place to another upon purchasing...
-the price as we know it would be different, probably by a few dollars, having to throw shipping fee's into it and what not

Consider the following:
-If every household in the United States wanted to buy one ounce of silver within the next 2 days, and what its effect on the price of silver would be
*they are not speculators, we assume they want to hold on to this one ounce of silver for a while

I personally havent heard of anyone get in trouble for melting pennies on a small scale, because I would imagine it would be hard to trace, its not like you have the feds in your backyard seeing if your melting a pound of pennies into a bar.
-once the pennies are melted, I don't think they can trace the bar back, so I feel like it would be hard to catch a small time penny melter, but just the fact that its against the law is enough to scare me

well in the current day and age, thats illegal, but its speculation as it stands whether the penny melting ban will be repealed or not.
-nevertheless I'm pretty sure people have probably gotten away with it, and probably do it small scale, I'm not sure how one would get tracked down, but there are penalties if actually caught melting them

my only experience with copper bars is that if you can make copper bars, they sell for a high premium. from my knowledge you can't really buy copper bullion bars anywhere close to spot, so owning physical copper in bar form is kind of a gimmick to me, since you have to buy at ridiculous premiums.
-this being said, copper pennies are a great way to get your hands on 95% copper. and with premiums being so high on bullion bars, I don't think you would have any trouble at all getting close to spot, as a matter or fact, you could get a high premium on ebay probably selling copper bars, just because its more of a novelty item.

2 weeks from 9/14 when the price was 34.63, the price has seemed to stabilize around 34.50
-the only action to be noted was a quick push to the 35 mark, to a collapse to the low 34's, to a gain back to the mid 34's.

I think silver is going to stay below 35 dollars for a few weeks, could even drop a little, but it seems that the recent gains it made in the past week seem to be over, and the election is not even over yet, if that was to affect it at all
