I just thought I would point out that Edition 10 of this book is due to be released and is available for preorder.

This has been the go to for English paper money and a must have.

I have ordered my copy from Colin Narbeth and am interested to see the updates and if much has changed with regards to prices.

I can tell you this must be something to do with the photo optimisation or camera because looking at it in hand there is zero pink on the note. Some dirt along creases but the paper looks clean otherwise.

You had me worried for a minute and from the images rightly so, but thankfully no such issues exist.

Ahh, thanks... so its F-659. Clearly Elliot and Burke but I was looking at the bank signatures and overlooking them!

Well I overpaid on this then, which seems pretty standard... I left many bids and didn't win too much... certainly didn't really bag any bargains.

Got this note too and still happy to add a couple more US notes given there seems a pretty scanty supply of them on this side of the pond.

Bought this one at auction, won it for the top estimate but I have no clue if I did any good.

Can anyone identify the signatures or tell me the FR# Its somewhere in the region of F-650 to F-663 I think.

@redlock

They are from Russia, PRE Soviet union.

The top one says "state credit note" which I think is kind of cool.

A couple more Guernsey overprint notes, badically completing my set of them. I have a couple of different signatories in the green notes with September withdrawal. An example of the November withdrawal and the pink and blue variety which I overpaid on but am glad I secured.

Well you seem to know more than I...

I am trying to decipher the obverse inscription... HENRIC III DR GRA REX AGL Z F?

Such coins are interesting but tricky

Hard to chose really, there are many notable people on my coins, Alexander the great, Marcus Aurelius and Hadrian among my favourites but Mark Antony is a big name and that these legionary denarius were used to pay soldiers is somewhat cool to think about.

I notice you made no distinction between copper and steel core. I believe there is a year where they were both produced. I have a note "98,676,000 made of bronze" written by 1998 for my 2p coins. if you still have the 20 x 1998 2ps from halloween maybe you could check them all with a magnet. it should be half of them approx don't stick.... I seem to have overlooked this myself as I don't have two coins for that year.

Interesting thread.

I have worked in various places that handle money and I have yet to handle an alphabet coin. This is the coin release that thwarted my interest... up until that point I had found virtualy every coin possible (missed a few olympic 50p coins but I bought a set of them so that didn't bother me) I even found the kew gardens in change before everyone else had caught onto it... I can't believe how much they sell for now.

Sometimes I feel we can have too much of a good thing.... after doing the USA state quarters I got stuck into the presidential dollars and about halfway through they seemed to become not for circulation or something.... the 50pence coins went mad here... I hoarded quite a lot of them thinking they might be useful for trading on here but completing out of noodling seems to have come to an end. Its even the same for banknotes, I used to be able to grab first series notes but it seems everyone has wised up... bank tellers too I expect.

Its OK, I went to order one though and saw the price... seems a bit strong for a soveriegn. I know gold is expensive but it seems like a bigger premium than normal.
