Hey, all! It's been more than five years since I posted here. Crazy how quickly time passes us by! A reminder popped up in my social media feed, that nine years ago the design I made for the CCF token was becoming a reality. I remember participating in the contest and it was a privilege to help out.
Life got really busy, so unfortunately my numismatic hobby went on an unintentional pause. Before I became inactive, I was wrapping up the more affordable portions of a US Type collection, and had been making good progress on a one-from-every-country (OFEC) list.
My father passed away in March of this year, and while he wasn't as much of a coin collector as me, he did enjoy keeping up with the current issue US coins for fun. He enjoyed talking about coins with his grandchildren (my kids).
My family vacationed to Colorado this summer, and I was able to visit the Money Museum in Colorado Springs. I'm glad we all got to see the Harry Bass gold collection before it's sale... that was quite the experience!
Obviously a lot more has happened since I was last here 5+ years ago, but I'll leave my life summary at that for now. I hope to find time to catch up around here! Not even sure who's still around that would remember me!

Hi, all! I periodically skimmed the forum, but realized I haven't posted anything since Feb 2016! It's been a busy year, taking on a new job and adding a 4th child to our family last summer. With things being so hectic, the hobby took a back seat.
My whole family attended a local coin show last weekend, and that re-sparked my (and my family's) interest in the hobby. The kids and my wife have gained a big interest in world coins so we're all working together on the OFEC collection now -- 114 countries and counting.
I've missed the interactions around here. It's nice to "see" everyone again. |

Today marks exactly one year since the last reply to this contest thread. I think we're all less than hopeful that we'll see a revised 7070 in our lifetimes, but I'll keep the contest going anyway.
Consider this a chance for anyone with dates in the past to re-enroll in the contest (the grayed out names)!

Well, I didn't get any hits here and I'm not getting any hits on eBay... Here's a question for everyone: When Dansco finally gets around to updating the book, what updates does everyone actually expect? If they're only going to change the Modern Coinage page, they'd have to add:
a) Lincoln 100th Anniversary cent b) Lincoln Shield Cent c) Presidential Dollar d) US Territories Quarter e) ATB Quarter f) Westward Expansion Nickel g) Facing Forward Nickel
If Dansco really is only going to update this final page, I'd consider cracking open my sealed 7070 instead of waiting. Then I would only have to buy the new final page to insert.
However, it would be nice to just get away from the "Modern Coinage" page altogether and completely redo the book. All post-1990s cents, nickels, & quarters being with their legacy coins would look nicer.
Just rambling out loud here. What does everyone else think?
