As I do clean junk silver (and not to sell but keep for silver value only) I would say the black from under the finger nails is from cleaning silver with Bi-carb Soda and it takes about 30 seconds.

See results of a coin I sacrificed for the demo. Dirty (normal) left and cleaned on the right

yes, overprice I know, ever McD 2013 has gem listed as $400.

I am thinking here the key is to use low quality images when selling APCGS graded coins, so hard to find a good images of any APCGS pre 1966 coins.

Thanks trout1105

Ok Can not get the URL to work, just search for "AUSTRALIA 1941 SHILLING CHOICE UNCIRCULATED MS-64 SLABBED APCGS" on eBay.com.au or use eBay item number:141487967963

AUSTRALIA 1941 SHILLING CHOICE UNCIRCULATED

141487967963

Now either these are the worst images or I think that the coin is a bit overgraded, opinions please?

P.S. No need for 14 pages please.

OMF, your poll could be taken to be bias "Frankly I find it a utter joke that ANDA spreads around a guide on grading coins when their own members....."

That said, I have purchased coins from ANDA dealers and also found them to be over rated (both coin and value), I no longer consider buying from an ANDA dealers as any sort of grantee of getting what I pay for. In fact I trust people who can be contacted on CCF far more and have not bad coin purchased from a seller via eBay that is a member of CCF (enworb you deserve a plug here).

Liverpool, +1 from me. Think there is too much detail attempted in these coins.

So now I am the prod owner of one 1915 half penny filler coin :) - sure it is real, and sure it is now worthless!

P.S. I now know what white vinegar and salt can do.

Mr T, well it is cleaned now :) I wanted to see how cleaning would go and as it was not worth much and I did not know what that marking was made from... I now think it is some kind of glue.

The coin came off eBay with a 1943 florin (that I wanted), some threepence's, some penny (one side panted gold - now in the bin)and some world coins - so in all $11 for what I call a 1943 in VF, I am happy to play with the 1915HP

Hi all,

Is this too ugly to be worth anything? I do not even know what the discolouration is. Feels smooth - should I soak it in anything?
