You may be able to get a good deal from a coin dealer who doubles as a jewelry dealer. Some ex-jewelry pieces remain in excellent condition yet still could cost you about scrap value. Dollar coins were commonly used in jewelry so they are plentiful. Coins that were carefully placed in jewelry and carefully taken out may be just what you are looking for with a budget to consider.

Back then, mint marks were punched into the individual dies, so exact positioning varied from one die to the next. This is nothing unusual.

The majority of Americans do not correlate the presidential number with the mintage year so order of mintage will not matter. How often do you hear a non-collector say "Oh boy! I found a 2007P Washington Dollar!" No...it's a George Washington Dollar. In fact, I bet most people would not know where to find the date anyway. Skipping Carter and going to Reagan is not an issue in the long run. 100 years from now, if someone were to ask, "How come Reagan was minted in 2016 but Carter had to wait until 2019?" Then the inquirer gets the sudden realization that these people were living at the time this series was minted. It humanizes them and makes history seem more relatable.

Since mintage dates do not seem to matter much, I feel the series can be extended indefinitely but of course slowed since presidents do not tend to pass away four per year. I am fully against placing a living former president on a coin. I always thought of coins memorializing people rather than celebrating their current lives.

It's quite simple: People buy them at that price so the mint continues to sell them at that price.

The Walking Liberty design is well known as the United States silver bullion coin. It's not just collected nationally. Silver investors throughout the world own these and recognize them by that design. The only change I could see as beneficial is a reverse change.

Would this include those late night shopping network shows where the guy with bad hair sells "highly collectible gold/platinum/chromium/whatever state quarters" with certificates of authenticity and signed postcards from some congress guy? note: sorry if this offends anyone.

Get rid of the following: half dollar, dollar note, two dollar note
Introduce the two dollar coin. Perhaps it should be bimetallic and a similar size to the dollar coin.

A bizarre combination of offers on my Discover card works out very well for me.

1% Cashback on all purchases already
1% Additional Cashback on all purchases for a "Birthday Promotion" in March
5% Additional Cashback on $500 in purchases in March, April, and May

then also,

2% in Ebay Bucks.

So in total... 9% back. I read all the fine print and it's true. I just have to spend at least $500 per month for three months. I hope I can find enough coins to buy

No option for "all of the above"?

I chose "other" because I would want one of the unique coins like the 1870S $3 or half dime

You are not likely to get more than the melt value for any of the coins except for the three dollar coin. The three dollar coin might get you $400 or so. If you get an offer above the melt value for any of the others, I suggest you take that offer.

No, the rim is complete so it is not missing any letters or other devices. It's not worth sending to any grading company. If you like the way it looks, keep it..but its really just a 10 cent coin.

Yes, it is a little off center but a coin like that would not carry much of a premium (if any) unless part of the design is missing

I once saw a set of toned proof indian head cents. Perhaps someone knows more than I do about these, but it seems like the proof indian head cents tone into many different colors. I don't remember seeing many red ones.
