Maybe instead of selling off almost(kept a couple sentimental pieces) my entire collection to pay for all the damages from Hurricane Sandy (because why would insurance cover "wind driven rain water" during a hurricane), I should have just asked for a handout on eBay

Not every silver product is collected/bought strictly for it's silver value.

I've seen a lot of posts on here about 4 oz. Engelhard bars selling for around $2,000. THAT is a higher per gram premium than most of these 1-5 gram bars.

I really don't think people are buying these for the silver value, more so the novelty.

This to me is no different than APMEX or any of these other companies that sell heart shaped silver rounds for $59 an ounce. There is no collector value, but there is novelty/sentimental value added.

APMEX Silver Eagle $38.73+$4.95 shipping
MCM Silver Eagle BIN $39.75 free shipping.

APMEX Silver Maples $37.98+$4.95=$42.93
MCM Silver Maples $40.14 free shipping

Buy 5 maples or 7 ASE or more and it's cheaper to go with APMEX, anything less and there are many notable sellers cheaper than APMEX and just as reliable.

This is the first times these coins have been out of their flips since 1987.
I've only been collecting for the last 10 years or so...but I'm assuming they used to dip coins 25+ years ago, right?

Do you think any of these will come back IMPROPERLY CLEANED from NGC?
I sent some early Capped bust halves my grandfather got from the same store all of which came back improperly cleaned. (1807 50/20 XF Details, 1835 UNC Details, 1838 AU Details)

What seems to be the issue with the second coin to make it only EF?

Wish I was better at taking pics, these coins are so much better looking in hand.

Do we have any idea why they use silver in the gold medal and not the bronze?

If it's about money, why not plate all 3?

I don't see the logic unless you need silver for gold plating...

If anyone does have an article about this(why those chose these compositions), I would definitely be interested in reading it.

You yourself won't spend over 2xface under spot, but have yours listed at almost 4xface over spot. If you're not willing to spend over spot, why would others?

CDN silver is a tough resell imo, I picked up about $20 face earlier this year, and probably won't get anymore(unless it's well below spot).

Isn't silber german for silver? I would find it interesting if a German bar said silver instead of silber.

I don't like the polished look on the 1845 side though.

I was hoping to add 60 oz. this summer, but I only got to 58

Oh well, still think it was a good summer. Just had that feeling all summer that the prices were going to drop to $23-24 and was waiting to pull the trigger and it just never came.

You're going to spend $12 now for a franklin half that you're going to use for 50 cents after a collapse?

They used silver in the 19th century because the silver content was worth less than the face value of the money.

If you're just using it as a medium of exchange, why stockpile the silver versions?

wouldn't the best time to stockpile PM's be during this scenario?

The stuff that's getting sprayed from the fan needs to settle before PM's are worth anything again.

If I have a gallon of water or bag of seed or medical supplies and you have a roll of Eagles, who do you think has the upperhand in the trade?

Water, non perishable foods, gas, guns, medical supplies...having those items will allow you to trade for large amounts of PM's if it happends.

OT: If I were stockpiling for a this scenario, I would say bars and .999 would be the way to go. Wouldn't 90% need to be refined before use? Can't imagine too many places that would be able to do that after a major situation.

2013 Australia $1 1 oz. silver Year of the Snake.

Received today, stock photo below, but mine is just as beautiful, will upload for all to see tonight.
Has the reverse proof frosting look...mmmmmm!!
This was on ebays daily deals from MCM.

I'm really looking forward to making a 2013 world silver bullion set.

I already have a really nice frame, my father does matting, and I do sublimating for plaques. Debating if I should pick up 2 of each and make a frame to sell. I think the frame will hold approx. 20-24 rounds.

Wouldn't this be like converting my facebook stock to apple stock just to reduce the amount of shares I have?

Aren't there 16 oz in a lb? So 100k of silver should weigh approx. 208 lbs.

I myself believe there is a better chance of silver doubling/tripling in price than gold. So even though it may take up more room/harder to relocate/grab-n-go, I would deal with it.

Current year vs. previous years: The current year's releases will always have a bit of a premium in lower quantities for the fact that not everyone is buying it as an investment. Lots of people buy eagles for birth years, anniversaries, gifts etc.

Eagles vs. Maples: Like Center said, Patriotism is a reason for the difference in premiums for lower quantities, but I've noticed that once you get into the roll quantities the difference in premiums between the 2 are lowered a lot.

I thought silver was for werewolves?

Will throwing silver eagles at them work? I'll start with those and work my way up to the 5 oz pucks. I'm pretty sure I don't know how to melt silver into bullets.

Or I can trade my silver for garlic cloves.

In the event of an apocalypse, odds are most of us will be long gone before a replacement goverment and new currency is developed. And for those who do survive the initial few months of complete chaos, silver and gold will not be a top priority.

If you're worried about an apocalypse, I say sell now and start stocking up on higher priority items, long term food storage, ways to gather and store water, protection, and shelter. An ounce of water will be more valuable than an ounce of silver.
