2021 Peace And Morgan Dollars!

Hi folks. Been a while since I last posted but I do check in from time to time to make sure everyone is behaving themselves ;-).

So I was able to purchase 3 each of the Morgan and Peace dollars today and was wondering how to go about possibly trading some for the other flavors of the Morgan. Ideally, I'd like to trade 2 Morgans (p) and 2 Peace (p) for a Morgan CC, O, D & S. Even trade 4 for 4 (among several collectors, of course, assuming it's an even trade). Is this even allowed here? I don't have quite enough posts to post in the buy/sell section although I don't see any trades going on there. What's the best approach or am I just dreaming?

Edit: OK, I found the Trade section. Suppose that's my best bet once I get enough posts (member for 10 years though).

Thought this might be fun. My penny collection just as I left it at the age of 14, like a stopped clock. As you can see, some of them are "unserculated". All collected from my change or my mother's or father's or sister's change or from hours of roll hunting. Grading is very suspect.

I've slabbed a small number of coins so my kids have a heads-up after I'm gone that "this is something special". Makes it easier to liquidate, too. Hope they notice!

I can only offer anecdotal evidence based on personal observation. I batch weigh 1982 Lincolns (tad OCD you might say) and have concluded that at least 75% are copper.

Whatever brings you joy.

Can't remember where I got these (I've got two). Perhaps from my late mother-in-law who was an illustrator for NASA.

From Robert Pearlman at collectspace.com:

Apollo 11 medallion issued by the NASA Manned Flight Awareness Office in 1970. The Barco Mint of New Orleans struck 200,000 medallions for the space agency, made in part from a heat shield bolt removed from the command module Columbia and a pulley clamp returned to Earth from the lunar module Eagle.

The medallions were issued to NASA employees and contractors in several formats. Some were accompanied by certificates, others were mounted in acrylic stands.

The medallion was the second such "flown-metal melt" issued by the Manned Flight Awareness Office, following one for Apollo 8. Others were later distributed for Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz, the Approach and Landing Test Program, STS-1, STS-3 and NASA's 25th anniversary (with flown metal from STS-5).

250 to sell.

Not to hijack the thread but this is a very high bar. Been a member (with mostly "quality" posts) for over 7 years and still can't sell here. Rules could be loosened along the lines of "250 quality posts required to sell, or at least 100 posts and 5 or more years of membership". What can I say but I'm a man of few words.

From the preview pics I was expecting something resembling milky white aluminum. I'm thinking the mint only uses renders of coins in their marketing, never real coins. But I digress...

Beautiful in hand, especially the reverse. Thicker than I imagined.

At least two prints do show.

Yes. The orientation of the print on the bear's head is diagonal to the print on its body.

At the precipice of 200 posts (after 7 years)! Do I get a wheaty?

TreeMonkey- My wife was an FBI fingerprint examiner years ago. She believes she sees loops and whorls.

A fingerprint is composed of loops and whorls, right? If a fingerprint then there must be more than one judging from the patterns. If not, I wonder what else could have caused it. Gives the bear some extra texture though! Either way it didn't bother PCGS. Thanks to your wife for providing an expert opinion. USSID18, your opinion is appreciated too.

Improved...but could use another soak? Rolled a q tip over the trouble spots but old grime is stubborn. Total soak about 15 minutes.

Picked up what I believe to be 100% acetone at Home Depot this evening and will give it a try this weekend. Thanks Coinfrog and SilverDollar2017 for your input!

Edited for grammar.

Thanks Coinfrog. I've never cleaned a coin with acetone before (although I once cleaned a Morgan with silver polish when I was 8 years old . Been so long ago it has re-toned somewhat). Time for a little acetone research.

Purchased the Indian blind with random date, XF+ condition promised. Paid about $100 over melt.

by the early 60's all the good cents, and all the Indian Heads, were pretty much out of circulation.

Guilty as charged! Indian Heads were becoming much less common when roll searching as a kid, but did turn up. Plenty of steel pennies, too. I still have them all. Buffalo nickles were easy to find (about half had legible dates). Standing Liberties with dates still circulated (but what kid could afford rolls of quarters, much less collect them?). S mint-marks were special treasures here in the SE. Still have all of those, too.

Never found a 1950-D nickel though

I did once, and lost it! Was so upset my mother got me one for Christmas.

Hold on BadDog (yes, it was your post that gave me the confidence to open the lens). The extra plastic underneath is a single layer molded to hold the coins in place. There is no bottom to it so the coins can be pushed out, so not sealed at all. Otherwise, I would not have had access to examining the raw coin.
