Thank you all for checking.
Odd inconsistency in the series; some years with initials and some years without. Too bad RCM employees can't double check beyond looking at the digital mock up.

Every ebay listing for this coin where pictures of the actual coin was used, all show the missing initials

I remember reading about this on this forum before, but can't seem to find that thread anymore. Are anybody reporting the same? I purchase my coins either directly from the RCM or from authorized/listed sellers. Aside from noticing the missing initials on my own collection, I have collectors that bought from me bring up authenticity issues as well.

A call to the RCM produced nothing. The customer service rep simply said all coins should appear physically as they appeared digitally, with the artist's initials...

Your insights?

Your pictures don't show scratches. Careful, may be more trouble than it's worth when a buyer files a "item not as described" complaint

Unfortunately, I find that the only use that modern RCM NCLTs are good for is as one time gifts for those not initiated in numismatics and coin collecting in general.

Been collecting for nigh on 10 years, and selling too, but I'm done. For me, it's been a downward slope for the RCM in terms of quality since around 2012. Way too many releases, way too many errors and issues between marketing and production, and way too many colours, rocks, glass, borderline Canadian associations, and other gimmicks. Heard the RCM spent north of $50,000.00 on just designing the new logo too.... The beauty and meaning behind RCM's NCLTs are too becoming too diluted. Smells more and more like the Franklin mint now, a private mint. A shame... Loved the RCM...

Not for March in particular, but:

Heard tell (Canada Post) that there's going to be a Canadian ghost-themed series coming out, likely to continue with the glow in the dark tech.

Also heard (local dealer) that the bullion wildlife series will be followed by a series of bird-themed 1oz silver coins (mintage 1,000,000 as well)

Beautiful coin and matching pictures. I love how the entire reverse face is used for the scene, with no text save for the artist's initials to distract from the magnificence. The design reminds me of many other national/provincial parks on both sides of the border east of the Rockies. Just beautiful.

Nice to see reviews like this. Thanks commems

IMO one of the best designed Chinese/Asian-themed coins from the RCM in years. Was going to say that too bad it's not pure silver, but considering the price that the RCM is charging for 1oz silver NCLT these days, I'm actually quite glad. Please, a silver plated lead coin next time

I don't imaging the shipping cost will make much difference for the RCM. Seeing as how RCM's dealers have ~ 15% margin on their coins (meaning the RCM is still making money selling at 85% of issue price), the RCM can easily absorb the shipping cost on purchases of multiple coins. Add in the abysmal price of silver and the RCM's insistence on higher and higher prices, they might as well offer free shipping for all.

Have heard of a justification for the milk spots that makes myself feel better about them. That is, that that milk spots identify a real RCM pure silver coin v.s. a copy.

Hopefully the new 2014 design on the SML, now with a stripped/beveled/brushed/ background, alleviates the milk spots

Especially when slabbed, missing edge lettering has to be spelled out

As I understand it, enamelling is a manual task that is done by pushing an enamelling pen that is extruding the enamel back and forth over a surface to build up layers of enamel and achieve the effect. It's therefore almost a given that fine mirror surfaces be at least slightly damaged and that damage visible if the enamel is translucent.
Doesn't really bother me, still a beautiful coin

Anybody still selling? even at the current spot price I got rid of ~50oz of silver for well over 30/oz over the weekend. I wonder if anybody else is seeing a bit of a disconnect between spot price and street price

Absolutely one of, if not THE best colourized coins from the RCM.

Careful with the 'imaginative' sizing. I've heard of packages getting return to sender with no refund of shipping label.

Not being able to ship small packet in Canada became a none issue for me after a few claims of non-deliveries that is impossible to prove otherwise without a tracking number
