well here is mine, I got it when I purchased a lot from someone off craigslist. I got a bunch of silver coin, including barber coins and mercury dimes, a big bag of wheat pennies, and a big bag of foreign coins. They were pulled from a cash register by the seller when he worked in a grocery store when he was a kid. He was in his 40s when I dealt with him. I sent it out and it came back genuine. Since I don't buy many coins and do a ton of roll searching this will probably be the most expensive piece I will ever hold. Anyone know about how much it would fetch if I would decide to sell one day? The coin is a 1922 no D weak reverse graded G6 here is a link to some awful pics basically you can see the slab lol also in the album are the other pictures from the purchase (I got all the coins for 125 dollars which was silver spot for the silver I got at that time) http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums.../coin%20buy/

I found a replated 43 copper colored 1943 cent put the magnet up to it and sure enough replated, not that rare piece one might dream about I kept it for fun I also received a plated 43 steel cent in an extra in a trade with another ccf member it looks gorgeous with a slight blue toning you can see the old rust under the plating though if you tilt the coin it is still really cool looking though |

I recently completed a second purchase from an online coin supply site after being pleased with the low price, quick service and quality of things I got, they were Dansco albums so that isn't hard for them to mess up but anyways. I buy 800 1.5 x 1.5 cardboard flips a buffalo nickel dansco album and 30 "economy binder pages" for the flips. The site said they could be a handful of different brands of pages including a kind I bought from a coin show before called "lead dog" which I liked and the kind I ended up getting "Safe T" which have turned out to be trash. I noticed as I counted them to make sure I got all 30 that there was some kind of moisture inside the pages. Is this normal? This kind of bothered me, but not much. As I was counting a few of the pages were clearly torn between the slots where the coins would be next to each other. I figured I would give these to my baby brother and scratch them off as a tiny loss. As I put in newly stapled (I squeezed the staples with plyers) 1.5 x 1.5 coin holders into the pages the seems began to tear, especially on the edge! UGGG I was finally going to get my collection cleaned up. I sent a message to the buyer and will let you guys know the outcome. A few points -maybe it isn't worth it to safe the extra 10-15 cents a page -has anyone had these pages, what was your outcome? Maybe I got a bad batch? -what brands have you guys found to be nice pages Hopefully I get a message back and it all gets straightened away soon. I was going to clean up these coins all week instead of roll hunting, now I have no boxes of coin and no pages to put my foreign stuff/canadian sets into. Ok I'll go be sad now

interesting, I was wondering the same type of thing for a while now I am about to organize all of my foreign change and was going to write the coins I had neatly on paper and put it in the front or back of the binder I put the pages in I would like to organize the coins in the binder by country as well to make them easier to find, this will make it a little more of a pain to add stuff I might just number the 2X2 holders and have the numbers correspond to the list I make the thing is I figure if I spend all the time on organizing I should do it they way I really want (by countries) As for my us coins, I haven't really thought about it yet. I use my danscos and then I have extras in 2X2 if they are old silver (washingtons, mercs pre JFK halves) or just rolls if they are common old coins like jeffersons silver Roosies, silver JFKs or wheat pennies. I want to make some kind of inventory sheets for these coins, but it is a big task and just gets bigger everyday. |

I never knew what these were until now, I heard the name thrown around though. Pretty cool looking coin. One thing that is confusing to me is that people say counter stamp coins are "worthless" and "damaged" coins yet something like this fetches a big premium, I think 16 dollars for a damaged coin is a lot. Some inconsistencies make it funny when people try to explain value of coins. It really isn't about the coins at all, it's about what people will spend money on, and how much they will pay for it. Interesting. Not taking away from the coin either so sorry if it sounds that way. I'm just pointing something out. |

I often wondered how people roll searched for varieties as well. Since about every date of cent has a variety I wondered if the people checked each coin with a magnifier or what they did. I don't think that is going to be my style quite yet. I think I am going to concentrate on about 5 coins. I will pull all of those from the box I am searching and check them after I search every roll. I know I have the potential to miss many coins by only concentrating on a few errors at a time, but searching for a bunch of errors seems like it will overwhelm the beginner in me. I can keep adding a new coin maybe every box or so. What techniques do you guys use to check your boxes or bags, do some people check every coin over with a magnifying glass? |

interesting thoughts on the keys. I am hoarding away a roll of each LMC for the future. If one turns out to be a key in years to come, my heirs will own a roll of them after I am gone. I am 21, so by then the coins will be well over 100 years old I would hope. By this time an idea of if there will be some value should show up. Anyone have any of these lincoln varieties to show off. I searched a few of my little brothers and sisters piggy banks when I went over for a visit. I came up with about 70 coins from 1998-2000 and 1992 but found no WAMs or CAMs. I hope this thread takes off, but we need more posts and finds. Someone find something cool please haha |

Did a box and got 11 wheats, the oldest being 1940 nothing special I checked for wams and cams as well for the first time and got none I started a Lincoln error searching thread you guys should check out and post on. I figured if all the errors were together it would be easier for us all to learn what to look for. Post pics, info, about anything having to do with error Lincoln cents.

ugly, you can't be serious. You mean to tell me that 9 thousand plus people in any sell out game at HSBC arena are canadian? What about the extra 3 thousand that pack the streets for the party in the plaza events that Buffalo kind of invented. Those must all be Canadian people too? All the jersey sales must be into Canada as well. The reason most of the games Vs canadian teams are heavily populated with Canadian fans is because people sell those games to pay for their season tickets. Sell a pair of 25 dollar tickets to a canadian for 150 dollars each. I do it every year. Just saying your comments may be true about some places but look at the following of Buffalo fans in other arenas in the US. Just as big as the Canadian teams following. In the south for Sabres games you can clearly hear lets go Buffalo chants over powering the lets go canes chants and such. Oh well. I get upset easily so I'll just leave this be. Get predicting people. lol |

*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***
So up until today I have mainly looked for wheat pennies major culls or other major problems and nice looking coins to make a roll of every LMC minted. I began error/variety searching today by separating all the 1992 P and D coins and the 1998, 1999, 200 coins. I was of course searching for the 1992 close "AM" and 1998-200 Wide "AM" varieties. I think it would be cool to have an area on the forum just for lincoln varieties and errors since there are so many of them. I would like to get more involved in searching for them and have a place to see what is collectable and what is just another penny. Pictures of your finds, questions, links, and discussion about the different varieties would be very cool. All the errors in one place will also make it easy for people like me to learn what to watch for and how to spot it. What do you error experts have to start off this thread? Happy hunting and lets see some pics.

don't talk bad about hockey in the states. In Buffalo we have top numbers in the league. The north is a better description of where hockey should be and where it is a big time sport. It's hard to get a bigger audience with inconsistencies, and crummy TV contracts. |

I feel like I am one of the cheapest guys on here. I might spend tops around 15 dollars a month. I roll search way more then I buy. For instance I can't fathom buying a coin like a silver Roosevelt dime that I can find in circulation. Many have told me it can't be done but through roll searching alone all I need is 17 more silver Roosevelt dimes and my set of 46-present dimes is complete. I spend about a grand each week roll searching. The thing is that each week that grand goes right back in the bank, just to be switched out with another thousand dollars of coin. If I had 80 bucks to spend on coins I would save it each month and help it pay for a house. I am 21 and have been living on my own with my girlfriend for 2 and a half years. I have money to buy coins, for a kid my age, quite a bit. To spend it on coins though isn't what I am all about. There are things more important to me then this hobby. At the end of the day it is a hobby, and since I don't want to sell any of my stuff I could care a less what it's worth. PS that $500 1922 no D I found and got graded looks mighty sweet sitting in my safe. Just saying do what you want, and who cares what others say. |
