We did freak out a bit. After we called the hospital and they said, "As Long as she isn't choking it should pass." After that we kind of settled down. We weren't for sure she actually swallowed it or not. We just knew 1 minute she had it the next it was nowhere to be found. I also had the same thoughts as some other, "I could swallow a merc or two." I just wonder how many people will actually try it and never tell anyone! HAHA |

Me personally, I would sell the collection. I started collecting a long itme ago and in 2010 I decided to sell almost my entire collection. Even my prized 1799 silver dollar (worth about $3k) had to go. Why would I do this you ask? I had an opportunity to purchase a rental property. the collection fetched about 1/2 of what the rental property cost me in total (purchase and repairs). Since 2011 I have had it rented out for $550 a month. Taking away about 1 months rent for insurance and 1 months rent for taxes, I clear about $5500.00 a year. Since doing this I have reinvested the money and now own another property with the same returns. One day soon I will be at a coinc auction and I will say to myself in private, "Its time to start reaquiring my lost coins." With that I will know I have enough money from the rental properties to buy my collection back within 2 years and still have a steady rental income flowing in.
You just need to figure out what you think is best for you. I know I will buy back (not my original of course) my 1799 silver dollar, but this time it will be in a higher grade and i'll know it was well worth the sacrafice. |

Let them melt them. Makes my coins more valuable and sought after. I am almost 100% positive that the gold and silver pawn shop doesn't melt any coin that provides them a premium. maybe they melt 1964 Washington quarters, but I its hard for me to believe that Rick would just have his employees melt everything that's not PCGS, NCGS, ANACS, etc. The old man loves silver. It wouldn't surprise me if he went through every coin hunting for a good one. |

I have bought form China before without any problems. I usually just try an email the seller and continue a converrsation about his product for many days before I pull the trigger. Normally the scammers get tired of dealing with you and stop replying. Someone who has a true product and wants the sale usually puts in the time. |

If you are looking to invest in coins I would suggest trying barber halves or mercury dimes. Those are the real potentials to get for close to spot with a chance of them increasing in price above spot. To be honest though if your looking for the $$$ aspect of it I would just invest in gold and silver bullion. It takes too much time to purchase and resell collectables. Coin shops will always want to make money on you and buy low to sell high. With bullion its pretty straight forward; You know how much your 1 troy ounce is worth within a 5% margin everytime. With a collectable it may be worth $50 to someone but $100 to another. |

Quote: Given that every single scrap of gold and silver ever mined on this planet would only be worth about a third of the deficit, it wouldn't really help much.

I have bought a lot of craigslist. I posted an add hunting for coins and have gotten a couple calls. 1 guy had a collection of over $5000.00 in 90%. He ended up paying an acutioneer 20% to sell it for him. I told him if he gave me time to sell it off $200-500 90% at a time I would make him more money. He didn;t want to do it. SAD day for me. Though I have met many people by word of mouth after I gave them a good deal. |

I went to Gold and Silver Pawn in early Feb. It took about 25 minutes to get in. Only thing I bought was 2 of the "Old Man" 1ozt rounds they had on the show a few seasons back. I did get a picture with Johnny the Toy Shack owner. It was a good experience. |
